Because it’s in the news more than any other country outside the UK?

Because it holds itself up as an example and a model in a way and to an extent unlike any other country in the developed world?

Because whilst it does so it’s such an outlier in many, many political respects?

Because it’s probably still the most influential nation around the globe politically and culturally?

Because it aggressively asserts and imposes its values and ideals outside its own borders?

A bit of each of the above?

Famously, the nation that has been at war for all but twenty years of its existence, that continues to drop thousands of tonnes of ordinance on Somalia, Iraq and Syria, which continues to engineer/support coups and involve itself in regime change in the likes of (just the latest) Venezuela and Bolivia, which has drones engaging targets in Ethiopia, Sudan, Burkina Faso, …?

I wouldn’t count on it

GB News had a feature on the Waspi women this morning and as I've never really listened to their complaints I thought I'd have a watch.

They had a Liverpudlian woman on there telling us how much she'd suffered as a result of not being able to go on the cruises that her and her husband had planned to do after her early retirement. After the 18 months the country has been through with Covid her poor little me routine showed a frightening lack of awareness and it might be an idea for these women to put up somebody with a better sob story than hers next time they want some sympathy.

They should of known that they were onto a loser putting a scouser on the tv to talk about compo!

They do have varied opinions represented and some of the debates are interesting. I would have thought it would appeal to the JA606s who post on this thread.

Agreed that they are more conservative but at least they are honest about their position, unlike the BBC's supposed impartiality.

They can say what they want on their platform. I personally have no interest in any of their cable newstertainment echo chamber.
I made the mistake of clicking on the Nicola Sturgeon trending threads, most of which had #GBNews also in them, adults claiming she is Hitler and she is running the 3rd Reich just verified to me who their target audience is, swerve!

I've watched GB News a few times.

Content was terrible, production amateur, and without going into details, extremely misleading. Can understand why Neil has deserted it.

Nigel Farage interviewing renouned Brexit expert Christopher Biggins was a particular highlight.

Makes you appreciate the standard of other broadcasters such as ITV, and the BBC.

Do you think people who refuse vaccination should be refused hospital treatment?

The reason I ask this is because I am listening to Doctor Al on the Stephen Nolan show. He says most ICU beds are taken by non vaccinated people. In the meantime cancer and other routine appointments or treatments are being delayed.

Caveat ; I am not including people who have genuine medical reasons for not being vaccinated.

I’m inclined to say no, as it sets a dangerous precedent. People do stupid and dangerous stuff all the time but we still treat them. The best way to get at these people is listening to them and educating them IMO.

They're in ICU, FFS. Give them the jab, tell them it's horse dewormer, or bleach. Just get it in them.
