And so it should be. But the judgement on people from the 40's shouldn't be the same as the people of today. We now know better/more/other ways.

To put it another way, I really do believe that in a few centuries time (if we haven't cooked or killed ourselves) vegetarianism will be normal and meat eating banned. Meat is murder will be the mantra... which has truth to it. However, most of us eat meat, so should we be dismissed as terrible humans because we eat meat?

I feel it is more the way we treat animals for food production that will be looked upon poorly as opposed to just eating meat.

But we will be tolerating/accepting things right now that in a few decades will be considered abhorrent.

Culturally the left wing is about equality in society, financial equality/equity, if you go too far LEFT you end up with people with the freedom to identify as a saucer and marry their goat

The right is about authority and privilege to those who are worthy of it, such as monarchs or stray too far and you have white supremacists/natzis who believe they are superior to blacks/Jews

The ultimate fantasy of right wing authoritarians is a supreme leader/living God dictatorship, which is exactly the situation in North Korea.

We can then come on to the subject of their economic policy, and the idea of communism, but they aren't a communist country, they departed that ideology with the fall of the soviets who backed them financially, and the ruling family have since seized MORE power/WEALTH making it an authoritarian dictatorship, something which can't really exist in a true form of communism, nor CAN the insane amassed personal wealth of their family of dictators.

Of course it shares similarities because everything is state owned, but it's more akin to a fuedal monarchy than true communism where everything is owned by the state to the benefit of everyone, in North Korean "Juche" everything is owned by the state, to the benefit of their supreme leader.

If people would stop looking at politics as a bar, and see it as the circle it really is, with centrism the bottom centre of the ring, North Korea is at the apex,

Regards your point about meat, if in the future, they did ban meat, etc. do you think they'll still have a statue or celebration for the people that produced the most meat? i doubt it.

Meat should never be banned, restricted? Yes!, Kept naturally? Yes!, Fed on pasture, which supports butterflies and thousands of different kinds of insects and native wildflowers? Yes!

Not spending 18 months in a shed, being pumped full of Soy, and in some countries growth hormones, routine chemical treatments to address foot rot, worm burdens and all other sorts of nasties that result from the way we keep them.

Personally I find it a shame. History is history. We need to learn from it and observe it. Don't let it define us and don't judge it for anything other that what is was in the time it was.

I agree with most of what you said but history DOES define us imo and it's hard not to judge some of the atrocities of the past, whether it was a long time ago or not.

Perhaps, I need to elaborate. Of course we can judge things from the past, but not to today's standards where norms have changed.

I get what your saying about standards but certain thing were wrong in ANY era, like murder/executions, prison times of certain people based on their skin colour...that's not a time thing, that's just wrong, even if it was accepted by the gov, police, people of that time.

Part of my point is that people won't want it. It wasn't long ago we would hunt ourselves and accepted the death of an animal as necessary. Today it isn't necessary and if we had to kill ourselves I bet a third of the population would be veggie overnight. 😂
