It does seem that a lot of Cons supporters don't like things like the truth or facts...a lot of them prefer to be constantly lied to, it's weird.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do they? 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
how else can you explain the support the serial liar Boris Johnson got? serial adulterer, fired from various jobs for lying, the £350m, the continued lies about hospitals, nurse to be employed, police officers to be employed, the oven ready deal, the brexit trade deal.

Blooming heck! Quite a list there!

Does pose the question, if they are that bad, how bad must Labour be?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no it doesn't pose that question, the question asked was why Tory voters continue to believe the lies.

They must like being lied to

I'd far prefer Corbyn in power than the current mess, how much worse could it be?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Prefer is always a loose term. It doesn't really mean you support them.

A better question is, who would you like in power? And for that I struggle to come up with an answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy, Labour.
They'd govern in the National interest and not party interest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I always find the "what's the alternative" arguments to be the most amusing, a Tory party who have been in charge for 11 years and have dragged wages, the NHS, education and even life expectancy down.

Vote Tory Die Sooner

that's a campaign slogan for Labour
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s the above type of mentality that has kept Labour out so I’d probably change that somewhat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, pointing out the governments failings is what is keeping them out!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When it’s all that you do, yes it keeps you out.

The onus is on the opposition is to present a credible alternative for the electorate; Labour have failed to do this since 2007.

Pointing at the Tories and writing lists as we see is above is not going to win over the electorate.

Or they remember illegal wars (that Blair still supports) and the disaster that was Blair handing over to Brown and the petty fighting that went on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
indeed the illegal war that if the Tory party had opposed would not have happened, it's amazing how often that is left out of the discussion

Labour 254 for 86 against
Tory 149 for 2 against.

The Tories have just as much to shoulder for that war if they opposed the vote is lost by Blair.

I don't see labour leadership posting on here. We're just guys on a forum so you can't really throw this crap at people because they criticise the current government.

Agreed... its not one they can easily shake off.

Didn't like what Blair did with education either but then again the tories have been equally as shambolic since they have been in power

Whilst I agree with Sat Navs statements, that Keir is just providing opposition, no alternative (I disagree that previous leadership's back to 09 didn't)

It's also very much this, and it happens every time here, you can't talk about failings in isolation, it will ALWAYS be dragged back to labour by 3/4 posters.

posted on 17/9/21

Very sad to here that Ash Sakar has cancelled her Labour membership becuase Starmer is boring

posted on 17/9/21

If Keir wants to be credible he needs to start putting forward policies, but he knows when he does so, he will end up breaking his the last of his leadership pledges.

He had no intention of being centre left economically, and the only policy he's put forward to date is right wing economically, I think he knows when he puts forward his proposals to try and win back Northern boomers that he will lose the millenials + post millenials that Corbyn energised and got voting.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity at work.

Great to hear @Keir_Starmer speak about Labour’s new deal for working people:

💥 Day one rights for all
💥 £10 minimum wage
💥 Decent sick pay
💥 A ban on zero-hours contracts

These policies would benefit millions! #TUC21 https://t.co/cqcDOo5ekg

I did see an ad for their sick pay pledge the other day

My Mrs has been entitled to no sick pay while she suffered with covid induced anxiety, stupid situation for anyone to be in

Minimum wage pledges don't really do it for me, I want to see a government brave enough to introduce a double/triple lock on it.

France bins 3000 unvaccinated health workers and Germany throws people off public transport, if they do not wear masks..

Meanwhile, Hungary is openly racist and homophobic, along with much of central and eastern europe.

That EU is tad moody.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All most as if individual EU states have individual sovereignty...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be racist, honophobic and facist.

Ok

I thought it was a Union?

Uniformity and conformity.

Perhaps if the EU gave Dave a bit more wriggle room, we would still be in?

Or if the likes of Corbyn had not voted against the EU for decades, we would still be in.😉

Or if Remain sold positives rather than fear and negatives...and like that, as Kojak said😊
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The EU gave Cameron everything he asked for.

Like, literally everything, tbab. Look it up.

The problem was that it was never about what we were or weren’t getting from the EU, was it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah...

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-35622105
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where in that summary does it list demands made by the UK which weren’t met with, at the very least, compromise heavily weighted in the UK’s favour, and for the most part met completely?

What I *did* see are promises made in the Tory manifesto that Cameron didn’t even address with the EU. That is hardly the business of the EU.

“ Or if Remain sold positives rather than fear and negatives...and like that, as Kojak said😊”

This makes me laugh the most. The remain campaign, from what I remember, pointed out very clearly the benefits of staying in the EU. Yes they also pointed out the disadvantages of leaving too. Most of which has actually come true. But we ignore that apparently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow!!! 😂😂😂

Selective memory much?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How so?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Both sides were appalling. Project fear from both camps, plus a few sunshine and lollipop dreams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What were the sunshine and lollipop dreams for remain?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The government literally published a document detailing the benefits and advising of the UKs unique arrangement with the EU.

The referendum was never about what was best for the UK it was about the Tory party fears of losing voters to UKIP.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it a factual document or a wish list? I think categorising a government published document as “lollipop dreams” when it is in fact just a factual outline of the benefits of the relationship the UK had with the EU at the time is more than a little mischievous.

I agree that the referendum was called as cameron feared a split in the right and losing power in the FPTP system we have.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think I categorised a government published doc as sunshine and lollipops. 🤷‍♂️
