Both sides should be banned from marching. Fooking ridiculous, they only do it to antagonize the other side.

Time to move forward into the 21st century.

Wider, tangentially-related philosophical point:

There is a huge difference between ‘respecting the alternative views of others’ and ‘respecting people’s right to hold alternative views’.

I see people writing on here from time-to-time that we should all “try to be more respectful of others’ views” (or similar).

Nope; not for me.

Whilst I will always respect (and defend) others’ right to hold opinions and views I don’t share, I don’t and won’t commit to respecting those views, or giving them any more time or consideration that they absolutely deserve.

No idea, belief system or view deserves an absolute right to be respected.

I wonder if during the crusades people debatex the problem with globalist Catholic extremism

Or if globalist Islamic extremism existed before that.

I don't even remember it being a significant problem before we went back for round three: desert storm 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Islam didn't play nice prior to the crusades. Not to berate them in particular, because none of them played nice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Genuinely interested in some examples, I don't know a huge amount of history prior to the medieval times.

Think some people fought dinosaurs, or maybe on dinosaurs or something

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Historically, and even up to the Sokoto caliphate in Nigeria a century ago, the general rule after conquering countries was to give the population a choice of converting to Islam or death. However if the Islamic leader was nice, slavery or a taxation (Jizya) could be an option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Much like the Catholics of the middle ages then, surprise surprise, humans being diiiicks to one another in the name of their god
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do wonder is man corrupted religion or religion corrupted man. 🤷‍♂️
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that was touched on earlier

Tbab believes the first, I believe the second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it is a man made concept. Used to control and unite societies.

Give respect to earn respect, let's give them the respect they deserve.

Public Processions in Glasgow - statement by Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland
Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, Divisional Commander for Greater Glasgow said:

"We are aware that on a number of occasions today there have been outbreaks of racist and sectarian singing by some of those attending to support the Orange Order processions, this is utterly unacceptable and we completely condemn this behaviour.

"Where possible, we are seeking to take action against those intent on causing harm and dividing our communities, we have already made arrests in connection with various offences and will continue to do so where required. With large crowds gathering today, our main priority has been public safety and to ensure minimum disruption to the wider public.

"Once again, we see a number of people intent in causing offence and stirring up hatred by singing unacceptable sectarian and racist songs, I want to again condemn this behaviour in the strongest possible terms.

"It is clear that sectarianism remains a serious, ongoing problem in Scotland and whilst policing has an important role in tackling this type of behaviour, this is a collective problem and needs to be addressed in a collective, collaborative manner."

Reality is, myself and celtic republican mates respect each other, as do boys in Glasgow, but often "outsiders" or folk with some agenda want to tell us not to be Rangers or Celtic, orange or green, irish or british, unionist or nationalists.

The fact that guys from England and London are telling me how it is, was not lost on paddy here, as London merchants, govt, business interest, the metropitan elite, had quite the hand in fooking Ireland up, north n south.

Bassas send us over then crap all over us, just like Boris.lol

And how come it is ok for Irish catholics to move to Glasgow or Britain, bringing all their religous, cultural and political baggage, but if prods move from Britain to Ireland, or from Ulster to west of Scotland, they have to bin their religous, cultural and political baggage??

Shackin so it is.

I thought you said the Scotland you grew up in was not divided, unlike Belfast n Derry....few hours ago?

There are nutters and bigots in orange and blue, and in green hoops, Glasgow ra bands, Scottish Hibernian lodges, but most Celtic guys and republican guys are not bigots or racist.

Black rangers players get racist abuse off celtic fans, and irish republicans, who call folk orange bastirts and sing about pira or Lee Rigby, but do we ban celtic fc fans meeting in numbers or irish republicanism?

A percentage of the population may support islamist extremism, so do we condemn a whole group, or call out the few bad eggs?

You and others are demonizing and stereotyping all loyalists, all the orange and all in Glasgow wearing blue tops or sashes.

It is being a bigot, while claiming to be liberal and progressive.

For the record, for a decade i have said Rangers fans and Scots unionists should bin sectarianism and racism, ditch the offensive songs and patter, cut out uvf praise and move on.

You can be a loyalist, orangeman, unionist and not a bigot or racist.

You let yourselves and the cause down and give your "enemies" ammo.

Why do so many of these bigots use these cough cough church parades as gathering opportunities to get steamed up and violent with like minded souls if its all so harmless, just a cultural thing?

Labelling the whole group of people in Glasgow today as extremist, based on the actions of the few.

Do you know any orange folk, loyalists or bandsmen as i do and they are not extremists.

Do you think tic fans are all extremist if some sing about pira, dead protestants, or DOB or Lee Rigby?

Do you think SF are extremist, and same with green bands and religous catholic orders or marches?

I have never seen you post against ra parades, sectarian and racist singing at Paddys day events, Hibernian marches for Irish and Catholic holy days etc

I can respect Catholic, republican, Paddys day parades and views and events, without labelling them as bigots or extremist.

It is that simple.

You and others cannot tolerate Protestant, Loyalist or pro- British displays.

When you watch these parades, are you called names, would you get battered if you crossed it, do they sing/flute songs about being up to their knees in your blood, are they synonymous with hate speech and drunken violence? That's my issue with your witabootery.

You brought up a specific religion by saying Judaism banned a muslim march, but i was referencing political extremism from islamists.....i was not attacking islam, but you went for Judaism, rather than Israel or zionism.

Do you regret that now and what would a jewish person feel if they read your post about their faith?

Islamists distort and use religion....poitical

Attacking Judaism and using "Jewish Israel" as a term is not a good look.

After the whole corbyn and labour antisemitism shame i thought you would have learned from mistakes made.

I attended Twelfth parades with catholics, chinese people, asians, irish nats, Dubliners etc and they are not called names.

They can be odd about walking across them, but thst is not sectarian and if i walked out in front of them i might get an ear full, but you can cross between bands lodges at gaps or intervals

There are party songs and billy boys, just as there are at Celtic games and ra parades or Paddys day parades, where people get drunk and fight and sing i woykd rather be the P word than a hunn etc.

I still watch Paddy day parades in central belfast or Dublin.

Never heard a hate speech at an orange meeting or the Field...its about Queen and faith and the union.

You think the worst about them and perhaps fear loyalists.
