The Labour party narrative, workers wouldn't be on strike if we were in charge.
Various interviewers to various Labour mp's, oh so you'd pay them what they want then?
Labour mp's, now we never said that.
Various Interviewers, so how much would you give them?
Labour mp's, we don't know.
My conclusion, Brexiteer Grinch and his gang would be in exactly the same place under Labour.
No wonder Starmer won't let the Shadow Cabinet anywhere near the picket lines. If as expected he wins the next GE the unions will bring him down very quickly.

It blind ignorance not knowing that it's not just train drivers on strike, in fact train drivers are a small proportion of those Union members enacting their basic right to withdraw their labour.

For me it doesn't really matter who is on strike. I am more concerned with the economics of bringing down inflation and you don't achive that aim withh huge public and private sector wage increases. Sadly we are all in this sh t storm together and we all need to suffer hardship together until we get out of this mess.
So we need to keep wage increases across both private and public sectors to a max of 5 percent in my view. I am happy to make an acception for nurses and doctors etc cause they have been financially abused for decades.

I've got no problem with rail workers at the lower end of the pay scale getting let's say an 8% raise but it needs to be done in conjunction with a study of which positions are necessary.

The immature nature of this government, from PM down make trust and respect impossible, negotiations rely on good faith. Good companies talk to their employees, good companies work with their employees, pay is only one part of creating a good business.
Mick Whelan, the ASLEF boss is getting an easy ride here.

Two separate issues for me. This govt sucks and I can't wait to see the tories kicked out.
But pay rises above 5 or 6 percent I think will just mean high inflation remaining with us for much longer and that would be awful. For me take the pain and medicine now and we will all be better off much sooner. Inflation is the absolute enemy.
It is highly likely the Ukraine war will be over in the next 9 months when that happens inflation will come down a lot but if everyone gets huge pay rises in the meantime it won't come down that much.

You realise when inflation drops prices, the prices as they are currently are here to stay, and people cant afford to live.
inflation is driving wage requests, not the other way round, the only justification for raising prices as a result of raising wages is to keep dividends/profits high.
which is exactly the greed causing these issues we see in society

You might not agree with me but don't put words in my mouth.
You only have to read back a few comments to see that I have given my thoughts on lower paid rail workers salaries.
