What exactly would you like Starmer to talk about though Pawl?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like him to say how much he would pay the nurses, rail workers, posties and anybody else who's striking rather than simply saying the government aren't offering enough.
If you're going to criticise without specifically saying what you'd do differently then you might as well say nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you'd like him to act as a government advisor rather than an opposition?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'd like him to say what he would do if he was in government, after all that's what he's trying to achieve.
It's easy to criticise anything and everything if that's how your wired up but if you don't say how you'd do things differently then it's pointless.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what elections are for.
Following on from Hunts long-finger budget, the tired, tax raising (unless you're a non-dom) Tories under little Rishi are devoid of ideas.
Watching them and their acolytes flopping about like the tiddlers they are is hilarious. More power to the workers!

Sunak really just said "He says he stands up for workers but won't stand against unions"
Does he think unions are against workers rights?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends what you do for a living, if you work in the hospitality sector then Mick Grinch does not have your best interests at heart and never will do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also not true,
everyone in the UK gets 10% extra in their wages thanks to the uplift of collective bargaining (it used to be higher) because employees under collective bargaining agreements earn 30% more than their peers, other companies are forced to raise their own wages to compete for staff.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's say you own a cafe near to a train station, then hot on the heels of the pandemic the last thing you're gonna need is day after day of dismal takings and you certainly won't be offering your staff 10% pay rises (unless the minimum wage rise covers it).
Apparently it's going to be a nightmare for those attending Peter Kays come back gigs at the O2 and pub representatives have said that the increased Xmas trade is more vital than it's ever been this year so they are very worried about the adverse effects of the strikes on businesses.
But hey Grinch really cares about the hospitality sector.
You're right, he cares about the workers that he is elected to represent. Thanks to people like Mr Lynch, you and your chums at the school gate enjoy the benefits of this country, be grateful.
I agree with Pawl here.
Not everyone's in a unionised job with guarenteed pay rises sewn in.
The cafe owner is a great example though luckily for Londoners, there's a tube network that I assume won't be affected.
That's our system, you build a business dependent on another business, you're at the whim of the primary.
Look at the niche car part manufacturers that folded when Ford closed.
The anger should be directed at the Minister of Transport that's put red lines onto the rail negotiators.

1. Unions aren't there to support business owners.. you both appear confused on that point
2. The staff employed by those businesses will still see their wages lifted up to remain competitive, collective bargaining raises everyone's wages through competition in the jobs market.

Your great grandfather fought for his great grandkids, so that they could grow up in a society where striking was one of many fundamental rights they could enjoy.
I bet he'd be proud of that low rent cockney winker, that democratically elected union official, who would have been one of the first thrown into the concentration camps by the very people he risked his life facing in North Africa.
Dominic Raab facing further bullying allegations from senior private secretaries and ignored several warnings from civil servants about using his personal email acxount for official department business.

BREAKING: Net migration rose to 504,000 in the year to June 2022. Far higher than pre-Brexit levels, with most coming from non-EU countries.
Will put further pressure on govt - and especially Home Secretary - to explain how this is ‘taking back control’ of UK borders.

The UK visa scheme is an absolute shambles. And economically illiterate.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/employing-someone-from-outside-the-uk
https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/work-visas-and-migrant-workers-in-the-uk/
Because employers are now unable to access the European labour market, (depending on visa type) they've been forced to look elsewhere. At additional cost.
Which is one of the driving factors behind the UKs chronic labour shortage crisis. And a contributing factor to stagnant economic growth.
