Exactly. If he had return the insult without reference to his race, then everyone would probably have ignored it. People insult each other all the time on here and everyone stays out of it. Look at Sat Nav most of the morning.

For me, however, refusing to condemn barbarism when we see it in the world but happily condemning other forms of barbarism (ie. When Israelis do it) says a lot to me about the character in question.

Barbarism is OK if used in self defence against barbarism. Just like murder is OK to defend yourself from getting murdered.

Would you condemn a guy who escapes certain death by killing his attacker instead? Some people see it like that whether we like it or not.

You’re no better, not in the least bit.

For me, all human life is sacred; Israeli, Palestinian, Jewish, Muslim, Christian, or no religion at all. Everything about the context that mamba has outlined in terms of the attack on 7 October can be true, open air prison, ethnic cleaning, similarities to the Warsaw ghetto that Jews in that part of the world had to endure. But for me that doesn’t preclude the condemning of what happened on 7 Oct.

Refusing to condemn equating to supporting? Technically no it doesn’t. It just means that you hate ‘the other side’ so much that you’ve lost touch with your humanity to express sympathy with innocent victims of ‘the other side’ whichever side that may be.
