The right support this bill because they don't really do protests. They prefer terrorist attacks, lies and murder to get their point across so this bill will only hurt their rivals, who like to protest a lot instead of killing people to make a point.
Kill the ability to protest effectively and what do they think that will lead to eventually?

Honestly I’m done with it. Not just fed up of lockdown but all the analysis, information, theories, reports, articles, videos. It’s like Brexit I just want to turn it off now.
Thank fk we have vaccines. If they took the typical 5 year range to be created, my god I have no idea what the world would have done. We couldn’t all keep locking down for years on end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So im effect;
“Fluck all this bull ah just want ma *insert what you deaore* back”
Wee niche reference for the Scottish board folk there
Can completely understand the resilience levels are low, it’s why I took over a month off from posting on this thread. I did do some lurking though obv!
I don’t necessarily have the same pessimism as NPE wrt what restrictions will be going on for years. Like much of what this government has done, it’ll take a check as to where the wind is blowing wrt the general population (read population where they want to win seats) and go with what would be populist there. Other than a fringe element of the back bench I don’t get the impression many are ideologues for lockdowns or restrictions or the opposite.
I think it boils down to this; if we can reasonably predict that the NHS will not be overwhelmed (at least no more than a normal winter), the tiering systems won’t happen. Things like masks may be recommended but not mandated is where I see it landing.

What is a protest if it is not bothering anyone? I’ll tell you; useless. Are there people here who support the legislation?

There's probably some
However you've got to see how attacking the police at a "kill the bill" protest is going to play out in the Tory loving media
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh of course. It will no doubt be used by the supporters of the bill, and be spun as a shot in the foot tactically for those who are seeking to oppose or amend the bill. However, I’m not sure how one could effectively protest against the bill though, given the vast majority of conservative back benchers support it.

Human is to error. There will always be some unjustified protest at some point. Some protest will always get out of hand at some point. Doesn't mean you take the opportunity to introduce draconian laws. This is what the Tories always wanted to do, they should not blame it on protests.
Not all future protests will be like this, but now all future protests will be subject to these laws. People should stop making excuses for this authoritarian idiots. People can be so stupid and shortsighted.

Aye, and now national long term laws are going to be made based on what has happened the last few months only. What about the last few hundred years and the next few hundred years?
This is actually the definition of stupidity.

It does feel like an inappropriate time to be discussing such legislation, when temporary restrictions are in place. Additionally, the bill itself is unjustifiable when significant parts of it don’t appear to have been referenced within their manifesto (I.e. there is no reasonable mandate for them to pursue the policy)

Latest trial of the AstraZeneca jab done on 22,000 people in US, Chile and Peru
Nobody who received the real vaccine developed severe Covd-19 or died of it
No severe side effects nor increased risk of blood clots in people in the study
Findings add to proof that the vaccine is safe and effective at stopping Covid
Research was carried out because US wanted US-based trial before approving
The Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine is 100 per cent effective at keeping people out of hospital, a US study has confirmed.

Excellent news
Every adult in the UK will be asked to 'play their part' and test themselves for coronavirus TWICE a week to help ease the nation out of lockdown
Testing drive will encourage adults to test themselves twice a week and will be supplemented by sewage monitoring to quickly identify cases across the UK.
————
Don’t understand the point in this though if pretty much every adult has been vaccinated, waste of money and time and probably more unhealthy sticking a swab up your nose and down your throat twice a week
And like the anti vax people would bother to do it or do it properly anyway

I hadn't even really looked at that manifesto. You're absolutely spot on, and welcome back.
sticking a swab down the back of your throat and swishing it around near your tonsils and back of your mouth (usually gagging too) and sticking it up your nose is not hygienic or healthy. You’re effectively irritating your tonsils, your throat and weakening your nose walls too
