📉NEW POLL @YouGov

BREAK: Crossover - @Nigel_Farage Reform party has overtaken the Conservatives in a poll for the first time

Labour maintain a 19 point lead

🔴LAB 37%
🟣REF 19%
🔵CON 18%
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Farage will lead a Reform/Conservative coalition
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Farage might not win his seat. It might likely a couple of Reform candidates do in some areas, but I'm worried their vetting process gives some lunatic a seat in parliament.

Its going to be funny if Reform achieve 15% of the vote and win less seats than the Lib Dems and Greens.

It’d be funny for about ten seconds before you reminded yourself that it’s yet another example of how fundamentally undemocratic the UK’s system of governance is.

Are you trying to make me feel sorry for Farage?

But in all seriousness it's one of the main reasons I avoid voting Labour.

I can’t think of any Earthly circumstances whatsoever under which I could feel sorry for Farage

I’d like to think, however, that I’d always feel sorry for anyone who isn’t able to cast a vote for a single candidate who would remotely represent their views or for anyone whose vote is effectively completely wasted in doing so.

I felt deeply for the 3.8m people (was it? off the top of my head) who voted for UKIP without seeing a single representative in the Commons. That simply isn’t democracy.

It's hilarious when Brexit is mentioned in debates where Farage is one of the guests.

He just side-steps any questions and moves on to Tory immigration policies.

So does the Tory though. Torys never list Brexit as to why the cost of living has rocketed. Just Covid and 'The War' they are prepared to attribute to that.

True but Brexit is the main event Farage is associated with.

If it had gone well, he would want to take credit despite not even being an MP at the time of the referendum.

The truly ironic and sad thing is Cameron brought about the Brexit referendum in order to avoid the rise of the hard right and anti Europe wing of the conservatives and now that’s happening anyway. What a palaver.

The referendum was in the Tory manifesto to appease the Right of the party.

Cameron never thought for a moment that the country would vote to leave.

Exclusive:

Rishi Sunak is put forward a close friend and former chairman of the BBC for a significant honour

Richard Sharp was Sunak’s boss at the investment bank Goldman Sachs

He was forced to quit as chairman of the BBC in June last year after The Sunday Times disclosed his involvement in helping secure a loan for Boris Johnson

Whitehall sources said that Sharp was initially nominated for a peerage. However, he is now expected to get another honour with suggestions it could be a knighthood

Peerages are vetted by the House of Lords Appointments Committee. Other honours are in PM's gift although they are submitted to Cabinet Office for 'probity and propriety' checks

Theresa May is also being put forward for a Companion of Honour

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was in the manifesto to try to prevent a further loss of voters to UKIP. The only reason it was in there was the Tories’ re-election campaign.

A very predictable result of the entirely predictable rhetorical and economic fallout from Brexit has indeed been the ability of the hard right both to borrow support from protest voting centre-right, green belt Tories and to capture the attention of ever more confused and downtrodden working class voters who have had the message that all of their lifely misfortunes are the fault of immigrants violently projected into their eyeholes and earholes in incessant fashion by politicians and the print and broadcast media for a generation.

posted on 15/6/24

I think there’s probably an argument to be made that the wholesale demonisation of immigrants to distract the working classes from the fact that they’ve been ruthlessly exploited by (often wholly incompetent) politicians with vested interests, those politicians’ sponsors, and the political and economic dominance of the market at large over the last generation has been the most successful propaganda campaign in the history of the British Isles.

Texts from the phone of a Conservative Senedd member, which appear to ask an employee to maximise the politician's expenses claims, have been seen by BBC Wales.

Laura Anne Jones is under investigation by police over allegations concerning her expenses.

One message asked a staff member: "When doing petrol thing - always make more than I did – add in stuff please ok".
