I’m not a fan of Mandy’s politics, but I think he’s a pretty savvy pick for US ambassador.
A serious statesman with decades of experience who probably knows more about trade dynamics and diplomacy than Trump’s entire cabinet combined, will be able to communicate with Trump and Rubio in languages they understand, and won’t take any shiiiit (and he’ll hear a lot, no doubt) about internal UK politics and policy.
“[M]ore in favour of a new relationship [with the US] rather than a special one” is just the right kind of tone for me, too. The US needs to be told it has taken acquiescence for granted for far too long, and that the balance of the relationship needs to be readjusted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trump will hate him too...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Musk will hate him more
Tbf to Trump, when he’s presented with high IQ individuals, he usually recognises their talents, so I imagine there’ll be at least a grudging respect there.
(Trump watching someone like Mandelson work must be more or less the equivalent of the chieftain of a previously uncontacted tribe having telecommunications explained to them. Given Trump believes that he is literally a genius, he must see people who demonstrate actual 130+ IQs as demigods.)

UK car manufacturing fell again in November, the ninth month of decline in a row, according to industry data.
A total of 64,216 cars were produced in UK factories last month, 27,711 fewer than in November last year - a 30% drop, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The figures also mean it was the worst November for UK car production since 1980, when 62,728 vehicles were produced.

We might actually be thanking Trump in four years’ time for accelerating the process of awakening people to the realities of - and accelerating the inevitable implosion of - late stage capitalism.
Trump’s revised federal budget proposal, which was just voted down in the House by his own Republican representatives, saw, apparently at Musk’s behest, $200m of paediatric cancer funding stripped out of it.

Tbf to Trump, when he’s presented with high IQ individuals, he usually recognises their talents, so I imagine there’ll be at least a grudging respect there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If that's true, then his cabinet picks suggest he actually wants to destroy America
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A destroyed country can’t fight back.
The US is now run by a Trump who wants to destroy people who tried to make him accountable for his crimes and a Musk who wants to destroy the people who laughed at his ugly nerd pictures and never let him in the cool club.
I read the other day that it’s Revenge of the Nerds and the nerds are now far more dangerous than the jocks ever were.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think Trump can be called a nerd. He played baseball and American football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nerd implies knowing a topic on more than his usual simplistic hot take likely to rabble rouse and gaslight for approval/offence.

We might actually be thanking Trump in four years’ time for accelerating the process of awakening people to the realities of - and accelerating the inevitable implosion of - late stage capitalism.
Trump’s revised federal budget proposal, which was just voted down in the House by his own Republican representatives, saw, apparently at Musk’s behest, $200m of paediatric cancer funding stripped out of it.
https://www.newsweek.com/pediatric-cancer-research-funding-removed-spending-bill-2003860
These men, each with more money than god himself, will go at the federal budget without fear, without compassion, without a moment’s thought for anyone beyond their own accountants.
They will only get so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depressingly I saw some comments online from his cult who were saying stuff like ‘that’s what go fund me is for, we shouldn’t be paying for people’s cancer care’
There are none so blind as those who refuse to see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Until it happens to them, then suddenly life isn't fair.

He'll still carry on with his two tier stuff. He craves being a victim.
