I've seen various North Americans tell natives to go back where they came from.
The ex president himself when speaking on native land just last year stated American history started in 1776.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the modern day history of the country did start then
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the ex president should have specified. Did the history of Britain start with the Germanic invasion?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would not consider British history to really begin until the act of union in 1707 - unless you meant Roman Britain.
I would say English (at least for England) prior to that, probably.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Romans took an empty island?

At what age do racist views become, not acceptable, but simply an elephant in the room people skirt over to avoid the awkwardness, 75? 80?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depends where you live and how much exposure you have to other races I think. I've lived in a couple of proper sh!thole "small-town mentality" type places where racism was pretty common across all age ranges. These people had seen very little of life in cities so it was almost like a 1960s timewarp - the last few decades of modernisation and mass immigration had completely passed them by
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not surprising really given that cities traditionally vote left and are pro immigration

BAME sounds ridiculous, POC is even worse absolutely hilarious how they are using the "colour" language at the height of segregation back in the day. I would just be insulted by this pandering nonsense if I were black.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good thing you're not then.

Of course not, there is 1000s years of history. It was never called or conceived of as Britain prior to the Roman's arrival though.

nvm found it, The name Britain originates from the Common Brittonic term *Pritanī and is one of the oldest known names for Great Britain,
History of England starts in 1066 when the Normans conquered, colonised the Island and established the monarchy.
Prior to that there was just disorganised, warring villages of hunters and gatherers.

Curious what London will look like post-pandemic, no intention of moving back after this - at least not Zones 1-3 in the centre anyway.

Afraid to say it is unknown to me, we only studied 'the Celts' at school in relation to the Romans - ie Boudicca, and I have never felt inclined to study the period.

Some people in the black community aren't happy it's connected to down payments and home improvements in the traditionally red-lined areas. They think they should just get a cheque to spend as they like.
Saw a PBS news bit on it last night. Good start.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
just not true
britain stopped being a hunter gatherer society around 5,000 BCE
the Old English kingdoms of Wessex, Sussex, Mercia, etc, were well run and organised, and were raking in coin
hence the reason why the Normans valued the country so much to invade
I never got taught much about the history of our country in school. I remember Year 10 and 11 GCSE history was about Jack the Ripper and the Tudors
I dunno why people share this sort of stuff on social media
