Congratulations everyone for not being racist.

Tory Brexit Britain
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The report you allude to doesn't say that, in fact quite the opposite, when it clearly mentions online behaviour and individual incidents of racist behaviour.
As Dave says, a little bit racist is still racist.

But fire ahead, pat ourselves on the back for nearly being not racist.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The report is very nuanced it seems
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've not had the report itself as widely reported as the author's broad brush summary.
There is much more in the report, for example, health, housing and criminal justice.

1% of our police force is black, 1%, why is that? The police here dont carry guns (for example) because they are a civilian force that gets it authority through consent, what is it about the police that makes it an unattractive career choice for black citizens?

From what I understand the report is suggesting class and family structure are more significant drivers of inequality than race. It says Britain is not post-racial, but there is also insufficient evidence to suggest the country is structurally racist.

That is really the only particularly contentious part as progressives are seemingly he'll bent on defining and determining that the UK is structurally racist.

wouldnt structurally racist mean theres laws in place that only go against certain races? not general racism within the population?

Matt Goodwin
@GoodwinMJ

I've watched many people this morning from think-tankers to political party leaders issue statements on a report they have not read. A reminder that for many people the race debate is not about evidence. It has become a new religion with sacred values that you cannot question.

It could also be that known biases or views of those composing the report are what politicians are commenting on, rather than the substance. Highlights perhaps one of the challenges with employing people to oversee a study who already have strongly held and publicly shared views on the topic of the study.

Let’s wait for the 2021 census rather than using the 2011 info still.

- Over-represented in NHS workforce
- Under-represented in teaching

I think we need to stop this constant assumption linking representation to something to do with race. Mostly because when it is responded to with proper analysis, it is ignored.

as expected, in this country "race" has little to do with outcome

social class a far bigger indicator

it's not blacks, etc that need helping in this country. it's the indigenous white working class

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56585538
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been shouting out for the white working class for years and get labelled racist for so doing, but it is not just white working classes who need "help" as the working people are not just one race, peks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes, i agree
social divide in the UK, is based on social class (or perceived class) and connections, far more than race

people from perceived lower social classes, irrespective of race are the ones who need help in our society

Biases in the sense that the views of these individuals on “institutional racism” were well established, so in this instance there’s a significant risk of confirmation bias, which again is perhaps what people are commenting on in the absence of the detail of the report.
