Fact is... even if it's a bubble and has no inherent worth... you can still try and play it.

My view is it is probably overvalued but has a huge inherent worth (decentralised banking) and bitcoin has the luxury of being the first and most talked about.

It was a bubble say $1k... $2k... $3k now $7k....

$5k saw a massive sell off yet the march goes on

China banned it yet the match goes on

Jamie Dimmon called it a scam yet the march goes on

It's up to you to decide the risks... but you'll dings a million tulip mentions... a million bubble mentions.... yet the march goes on.

It will hit $10k... i would be my wallet on it.

Brummie, invest in some groats. A very sound currency.

I have a modest Bitcoin and ETH investment. This isn't a bad way of storing them.

I load crypto money on to this debit card and spend it when I think it's at a peak - Should have taken a few quid out on Tuesday when it was rocketing.

Warren Buffett never invests in anything he doesn't have some control over.

Check 'etoro' out Nick, it's a social trading site as well, where you can interact or even 'Copy' successful traders. I don't use that facility myself - but if that's your thing!

It's also fully regulated - apparently!

I have friends who invested in some bitcoin back in 2012....i thought they were crazy.

I have some in ethereum now, after the boom earlier in the year though. Hopefully it'll take off over the best 36 months.

Could easily do that, about 80—90% of the spread betting is long. Any regulated ETF launch will likely light a further fire on it at least in the short term.

I've invested in bubbles before during the tech boom of the late 1990s. Even wrote a portfolio strategy optimisation for a big online private investor finance company of the time. The reality was any predominantly long position done well until the bubble burst. I've long since moved way out of algorithmic strategy and graph analysis, bollinger bands, resistance levels etc. Might as well be reading tea leaves. The trend is your friend till the bend at the end

A huge fan of Nassim Nicholas Taleb's books and in particular asymmetric pay off as discussed in his book antifragile. Limited downside and huge upside. I'll almost always short a currency during a crisis such as brexit or indy ref, Greek bail out etc. The status quo is for the most part already priced in so the good news doesn't lose you as much as the bad news can make you.

Was that not announced yesterday or the day before?

Yesterday - as far as I'm aware!

I'm no Bill Gates though!

Admin 1....

You can understand why i called you out on the tulip analogy though? That was just a scam... blockchain is a revolution, even if Bitcoin fades... and even if the bubble bursts (again) it can settle and readjust, just like the internet did.

I just think it is important to separate Blockchain technology(which is transformative) from Bitcoin the currency(which is not a viable currency due to transaction limitations).

I'd also urge folk to stay away from e-wallets and bite the bullet hand hold your own wallet.

And bitcoin as a store of value? Digital gold?

You seem too hung up on the currency issue

Nope i struggle with this hugely. Just look at the various coins on the go already. Bitcoin is already starting to fragment itself.

Just invested another $250 as it's dropped below 7000.

XRP and Ethereum have taken a dive today as well.
