We have progressed. That's why we keep finishing in the Top 3!

I am specifically speaking about away to the big sides.. I fully accept that we are very very efficient at beating the dross both home and away from home on a consistent basis.

It's not about beating them, its about finishing above them. Which we are doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is about beating them in cup competitions.

Or is finishing top 3 the height of your ambitions.

Destined to put the pressure on forever?

Squad isn’t good enough to cope with certain players injured or out of form.

With both Waynama & Toby out it’s left us with a big problem because Dier covers both positions. Dembele is looking shot atm and not sure he’ll get back to his high standards again.

Then we get to our lack of decent alternative to Kane. Janssen seemingly not good enough but Llorente is pure uselessness. Son needs run off games to get his touch and effectiveness going too.

We are showing for our poor summer transfer window where we addressed the 3rd CB issue but completely messed up the attacking issues.

We need a multi position Barkley type and a game changing Mahrez/Zaha.

A replacement for Dembele is needed soon also

last season we didn't finish above Chelsea. who incidentally we haven't beaten away from home for something like 25 years or whatever it is. what a disgrace... they were facking awful for half that time.

so in your opinion its a personnel issue?

what about when everyone is fit and we name our best side...? we still invariably lose..

From the outside this is where your problem lies, you see it as a massive acheievement solely to finish above some of your rivals.

Again still a squad issue because if the “best” team aren’t on it then still not much left over to effect anything.

When playing the top 6 teams they have just as good if not better squads than us and if we aren’t on it like today then obviously we’ll lose.

Getting Waynama & Toby back asap is very much needed

Main problem is when Kane is injured or not fully fit you seem to struggle

Utd
Arsenal

comment by KLS - Kolo-Match thread duties are shared between Pranks and me, we got married last month as he sacked me off whilst on one knee. My parents warned me he was too short and old, but unlike Liverpools trophy cabinet he isn't full of dust and mould. (U1695)

Yep once Kane went off for Llorente that’s when poch had given up the game today. Just no adequate replacement

Don’t think he was anywhere near fit today!

Today was a fairly even game despite what the pundits say, the stats back it up. Arsenal probably shaded it but we did enough overall to merit a draw, so we are not being steam rollered at these grounds.

Today we were just unlucky, had we been gifted the opening goal instead of Arsenal it could of been a different result.

But we probably lack the belief also together with lack of squad depth, we still only have one centre forward that scores goals for e.g..

He’s not but with Llorente his back up we have no choice but play him. Bad recruitment in the summer again

You can rest mid week though as you’ve already qualified

I agree in that we could do with better depth to cope when players are out in this game, and maybe a bit more belief and less naivety.

Spurs are progressing. It is just one of those things we will have to live with, losing at our bigger rivals. As long as Spurs win the home matches, then I really don`t care. OK the Chelsea match this season has already been lost, but Spurs have beaten Liverpool, and I expect them to beat both United and Arsenal.

There are plenty of points to be had between now and the New Year to not dwell on the odd defeat at one of the big teams.

I have already moved on, and thinking about give WBA a good tanking next weekend.

It is an interesting one. It's easy to say "add a few quality signings and you'll be fine" but Spurs are full of quality. Sign a centre mid but will they be better than wanyama or dembele? Striker better than Kane? Winger better than eriksen or son? Etc.

I think it's the tactical approach. I think poch goes out there with the same set up as he does against other sides. Klopp is not a man who likes to change how we play but even we set up very differently away to big teams than at home. The one time I've seen a noticeable tactical difference in your set up was at home to us, and you did a complete number on us.

Spurs are a side who want to win the title. To do that you're going to have to pick up some points on the road to the other top 6, including beating some, because this city side are. They're thrashing the lesser sides and picking up points on the road. You cannot win the title through just beating the smaller sides, because city are also doing that and beating top 6 away.

It’s the players behind those though that just don’t cut it. Llorente, Sissoko, Nkoudou aren’t good enough as back up.

Dembele looks like injuries and fitness issues have caught up with him atm looks a shell of the player from last year.

For how good Son can be he needs to play regularly but this wingback formation is making his appearance infrequent.

Although I do agree tactically I would’ve liked to play it how we did against you and play deep and go long and quickly into Son & Kane.

Waynama not being fit is huge for us

I agree with that. Kane needs a better understudy. I actually think sturridge would be perfect for how you play and could also partner Kane when needed.

Yeah despite the current trend of five/three at the back, and Spurs doing it well, i think you look much better when Son is buzzing off Kane, with eriksen and Alli in behind that.
