You doing anything nice tomorrow Sandy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Might be.
Yes all down to the manager tonight, Serge and Ben would’ve had that City frontline in their pockets.
I was pleased that Poch attempted to try to take the game to City but the line up and tactics were wrong. Admittedly this is somewhat with hindsight but I think we should have played a 4-5-1 setup. Sissoko, Aurier and Lamela instead of Alli, Winks, who has been below par recently, and Trippier. Sissoko, yes I know, on the right of the five man midfield to challenge Sane and help and protect Aurier. Lamela, who looks sharp and hungry, for Alli who is out of form at present.
Harry up top with Son, Eriksen and Lamela looking to support when able would have been my preferred tactics.
Probably would still have got beat by this excellent City team but would have been a better approach imo.

I'll say this in Poch's favor, Sandy ...... he started 4 at the back instead of his usual 3!
That said, some of his choices are beyond understanding:
Trippier instead of Aurier?
Trippier was beaten for speed all afternoon.
Winks? Why start him, he did not belong on this pitch.
With that weak link in the midfield they could run at our back four at will.
Alli? He's going thru a loss of form period and should start on the bench.
We needed some stick in the middle, and missing Wanyama as well as Alderweireld, I'd have started Sissoko. The one thing he does well is bully people.
But we were never going to get a result without Sanchez, Alderweireld and Wanyama.
It will be a different game at Wembley, I hope!

City are the best team in Europe and have spent a zillion quid! Not sure why anyone is surprised, it’s not like they haven’t won EVERY SINGLE OTHER GAME (bar one which they drew!)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry Sizzle, I don`t care how good City are, Poch is fecking useless at setting up teams away from home against any half decent side. He never gets a result. He knows Trippier is useless against any good side, so what does he do, he plays him. Winks was very poor midweek against Brighton, so should not have been starting against City. He doesn`t ever seem to learn.
Tbf I’ll give him this one off as we were hampered by personnel.
The awful summer transfer window where we didn’t get the players we needed is the problem.
We regressed loads over the summer be it by selling a top class player or by having players head turned ( Rose & Dier ).
Think it’s back to a rebuilding job
All of the above having been said ......
if we had not given away that first weak goal, it could have been a different match..... Sissoko replacing Winks, Lamela replacing Alli We might have had something of a chance.
Thank god for Jan Vertonghen. And Eriksen.
Hengy, I agree with most of wot you said.
But I don't understand the comment about Rose and Dier?
Rose complained about Levy's refusal to go into the market and get a real replacement for Walker until the last minute. And then we got Aurier, complete with a police record, so we didn't even put him on the pitch today.
Rose had a point. That given, he put in a pretty good shift today.
we were never going to beat city, just dont have the personal available at present, definitely agree that we should have bolstered the midfield, Winks just not up to it, dembele too slow now, needed a 3 man midfield, to combat the possession city were getting, trippier is a more safe option than Aurier, rose is a million miles from were he was last season
Rose wants out simple as that. Dier wanted to go united although he’s played so much in two different positions he’s probs just facked.

I do not beleive that is Rose's position.
But if it is, I can say that he must view Walker's move with some envy, so it is quite understandable.
Walker will get silverware this season.
Levy just has not invested enough in this team to compete for top four.
Stop going on about the Defense . There was no protection from midfield . team as a whole was poor .passing was poor , failure to keep possession and the thing that really infuriating me the most was how many second balls we lost especially when we were favourites for it .
City are on a different level to Everyone else . They have spent well but with a little bit of finesse in the final 3rd we could have given them a game. We just lack the creativity when we step up a level.
Burnley are doing pretty well without spending a lot <OK>

Was a surprisingly attacking, ambitious formation by Spurs. The most ambitious anyone has set up against City this season. City weren't as dominant in possession (think their 53% possession today was their lowest in the league this season), but your high-pressing set-up gave them more space to exploit behind. They were a tad sloppier in attack today than usual: else, it could have gotten ugly.

So are we
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We spent a good deal more on Sanchez and Aurier!
This is what I was afraid of this season.
It was always going to be a tougher season for us due to the improvement of other teams and moving stadiums; stuff Poch can't do anything about, as well as the limitations he himself is under at a club like Spurs with Levy at the helm.
What we don't want to see is pressure increased on Poch by the fans when it goes wrong. He is still a great manager and doing a good job overall.

And last I checked Burnley had won the league. Some serious posters on here today I see.
If we do not sort out defensive set pieces then we deserve to keep conceding goals.
Awful stuff

Still disappointed with a number of individuals performances today. Poch the best thing for a while that ever happened to our club.I really don't want to go back to the days of Santini and Gross,
