Funnily enough, the City of 2008 managed the double over that side

City would batter that arsenal side.

They really wouldn’t batter the invincibles.

The thing is, it's not just that City are winning and scoring so many. I don't think anyone has outplayed them yet, though a couple of sides have been a bit unlucky. Our 2008 side, fabulous as it was, were second best a couple of times just off the top of my head. We also had quite a few draws and narrow wins early that season.

Still, early days though. Earlyish.

They really, really would.

That invincible side lost 7 games against opposition worse than city and played for draws in the pl in the last third.

This city would batter them.

Only players getting in this city side would be henry viera and Cole.

Apart from that city walk all over that arsenal side.

We'll see how good they really are come the end of the season. They could beat the points record, goal scoring record and win the CL.

Hardly as simplistic as that is it. For a start you would struggle with their pressing, 2 of that back 4 (Vidic and Brown) aren't exactly good with their feet plus Carrick has never been good when pressed hard.

And yeah I've seen some dog chit city sides batter us before.

I remember swp scoring a worldie in about 03 or something. Horrifying we lost to them back then.

Well, that team also lost 8-1 at Boro on the last day of the season.

4-1 in 2004, that was. Horrible day.

You really don’t think Campbell would get in the city side? Or Bergkamp? Or pires?

I agree I think they'd beat the Invincibles, and will go on to be better than them. The Chelsea side who won with 95 points are better than the Invincibles too. They only lost one game but amassed more points and won the League Cup.

As for the 08 side, we'll have to wait and see what this City side achieves at the end of the season.

Prime Bergkamp would walk into any side in world football with his eyes closed.

Sol Campbell too, I'd say. I agree, though; City look better right now.

Bergkamp wasn't in his prime in the Invincibles season. Pires would get in this City team.

Pep is a smart man, he will place his attention on the cl after they rap the title up in March. So I expect them to lose when they move their focus to the cl but by then they will likely have a 15 to 20 point lead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That could work for both of us aswell if one or both get relative comfortable distance on 4th.

As the PL is the greatest league in the world, City right now being the best PL side ever makes them the greatest ever side in history. Ever. In the world.

You must be a genius to have thought of that before him, then.

Some of the comments on this thread - led by some of the usual suspects in stretty and Spurtle .

I guess, going by strettys logic, this City would batter the United side who lost 7 times to the likes of Bolton, West Ham, Man City when they were awful x 2, Portsmouth....

If Arsenal of the early 00s had their best XI playing against Citys best XI it would be close, but I would fancy Arsenal. Over a season the City squad would have more options - as you would expect from the money spent.

If the Invincibles were so good why didn't they get far in other competitions? And the competition for the title when they won it wasn't even as fierce as it was in 08 or this season.
