The competition for the title is fierce this season?

If the Invincibles were so good why didn't they get far in other competitions? And the competition for the title when they won it wasn't even as fierce as it was in 08 or this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How far is not far?
Quarters of the CL, semi final of both domestic competitions.
As said, our squad depth was nothing like what City have now. It told.

A big chunk of that side made the CL final a bit later on.
Was a very very good side with a bit of everything

If you look at it from a truly footballing perspective over financial Wenger underachieved in the early 00's. That front line would scare the crap out off even Maldini and Baresi but they were regular getting knocked out of Europe early, infact wasn't 2004 the first time they made the last 8?

Nobody is saying it's not a very good side. Well I'm not. But it's a side that has been surpassed in quality since, in my opinion.

They really, really would.
That invincible side lost 7 games against opposition worse than city and played for draws in the pl in the last third.
This city would batter them.
Only players getting in this city side would be henry viera and Cole.
Apart from that city walk all over that arsenal side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really don’t think Campbell would get in the city side? Or Bergkamp? Or pires.
~~~~~~
Who out of sane or sterling would pires replace? Neither.
Bergkam? LOL whos he replacing? Citys top goalscorer ever or the best young striker in the world. Both of whom are better at putting the ball in the net.
He certainly isn't good enough to take de bruynes place or silvas even if you were to shoe horn a number ten they don't need in the team.
Possibly Campbell would but they aren't leakig goals because they alwaysnhave to much of the ball are too busy putting it in the net of the opposition.
Oh and it took arsenal 38 games to score 74 goals, city have 44 in 18.
This city side would wipe the floor with them.
You could of said our 2000 team or chelsea of 05 which are probably the best two pl sides of of all time given how both won the leagues in their respective teams and you chose arsenal. Lol
Could have at least made a final couldn't they? When you think of all the teams that have won leagues and other cups and the Invincibles only won the league. It's a team that has been somewhat overrated based on that one achievement which is a great achievement nonetheless.
Football is a strange game. City are (rightly) getting a lot of praise right now, and one of their most effective players has been Raheem Sterling.
Yet, come summer, when England's World Cup campaign is about to start, a lot of these same people will be saying Sterling is just another over-hyped Englishman and we're deluded for thinking we can compete with Di Maria's Argentina, Ozil's Germany or Lukaku's Belgium
Some of the comments on this thread - led by some of the usual suspects in stretty and Spurtle .
I guess, going by strettys logic, this City would batter the United side who lost 7 times to the likes of Bolton, West Ham, Man City when they were awful x 2, Portsmouth....
If Arsenal of the early 00s had their best XI playing against Citys best XI it would be close, but I would fancy Arsenal. Over a season the City squad would have more options - as you would expect from the money spent.
Lol shut up your team wasn't even close to how good theirs is
All things considered it's probably a good idea to play all the English City player's Delph included. If their season goes the way it's looking they will be all full of confidence heading to Russia.
I know that Henderson, Wilshere, Rashford aren't exactly Silva, KDB and Jesus but it can't hurt to have half the team being coached by Guardiola, not saying England will win it but that was the circumstances of the last 2 winners.
And if this city team is the best or not stems on obviously what they achieve this season.
Its too early to say, but by the looks of it a nuclear warhead couldn't stop them. I'll be surprised if they don't at least get the points record.
Arsenal lost a UEFA cup final to fecking Galatasaray, Wenger severely underachieved in Europe.
