Making false accusations of racism should receive the same length of ban as making racist comments (if that proves to be the case).

And, I don’t care what anyone says, calling someone names isn’t worse than physical assault, which could have ended in very serious injury.

An FA statement said referee Bobby Madley was "made aware of an allegation" during Friday's game and included it in his match report.

As for the alleged racist comment, I have heard all kinds of nutcase comments.
'Kenny's head is in the way as Firmino calls him something'.
Forgetting Bobby Madley was an inch or two from Firminos mouth.
'The fourth official calls Madley over because he heard somthing'
Although he was 10 yards away, and Madley was 2 inches away.
'Madley didn't hear it, because he was looking the other way'
Yeah, because when someone shouts 'n***er in your face, if your not looking at them, your ears turn off.
It's all pretty desperate stuff.

Pretty sure you can be sent off for foul and abusive language. Don’t see why racism wouldn’t fall under the same rule.

Surely it’d be the safe bet to send him off if he did say something racist. Imagine the criticism of the official if he let him stay on and he went on to score the winner.

The Mirror report that the misunderstanding was sorted out at half time, whether true or not I have no idea.

If so, I guess the ref still had to include it, but Holgate will just explain his side and nothing will come of it.
