They do. They'll wait until the summer if Arsenal won't sell on their terms.

That would assume he’s not tempted by us...

Be a shame if we don't try to get him. Saying that I've never liked his attitude.

im sure hes tempted but we are still a work in progress and city are by far streets ahead of anyone.

Our history is greater than city but i dont see anyone touching city for 2-3 years.

Hopefully im wrong

depends on his defensive aspirations

United trying to muscle in on the deal will be noted
Having one wum in Wenger is already enough to deal with

Yeah it would. That's the assumption I'm making. Could be wrong, we'll see. I reckon he'll end up at City. Hope not, he'd be a great signing for us. One of, if not, the best players in the league. We lack that star forward.

Mourinho on Sanchez:

"The only word I can say is he is a phenomenal player, apart from that Arsenal player and I feel I shouldn't say much more than this."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cue a Robb article explaining how this means it's a done deal and he'll be joining us next week...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The bottom paragraph is very interesting!

“I don’t think it is ethical or correct to be speaking about players of other clubs. If somebody speaks about one of my players, to say we are interested or not I wouldn’t be very happy.

“Sanchez is an Arsenal player. I don’t know for sure but probably this weekend he is going to wear Arsenal colours. I don’t think it is correct to say things about Alexis Sanchez.

“At a general level what I can say is that with the Manchester United board we do not believe a lot in the January market. We don’t believe in signing a player just to do something.

“What we believe is there are some players in the football world where if you have a chance to sign them then you have to try. All I can say is that Sanchez is a phenomenal player.”

Depends on a lot of things.

Money, would his ego let him be persuaded to be the main man at OT, does he have friends at either club, will Pep or Jose be there in 2 years, how has he felt visiting both stadiums, is he bothered about club stature etc etc

If it was all down to the football here and now I'm sure city would be many a players choice.

Sanchez is a fantastic player, and if indeed city arent interested for whatever reason, he would be a superb signing for United, irrespective of the fee.

Yeah no one would choose us over city for football reasons, if no attachment to the clubs.

If Jose really thinks he is a phenomenal player, knowing that he's wanting a move and with only six months on his contract, he's told Ed to spend what he needs to in any attempt to sign him.

If he doesn't join us, it'll most likely be because either the club is refusing to continue to write blank cheques or because the player has decided he wants to go to City no matter what.

The fact he left Barca for Arsenal shows that he cares more about just winning trophies. I know that was a few years ago and maybe he's changed but he left one of the best clubs on the planet who regularly win trophies to get more game time at a far lesser team.

City are clearly a better side than us right now and the smart money is on him going there at some point but maybe he can be persuaded to join us, there are other factors that we could temp him with. Although I would say I doubt he has any concerns about getting into the current City side however good they currently are, like any top player he will have supreme confidence in his own ability and wouldn't even consider not being good enough to be starting every game for them.

No brainer for United to go for Alexis if city aren’t willing to pay for him. I reckon he’d push United close to on par with City.

Sanchez is a £100m player in the current market, world class, yet City won’t pay more than £20m, baffling. If they miss out on him they will kick themselves and whoever gets him are so lucky.

posted on 12/1/18

I’m guessing it’s a ‘who blinks first’ thing. Arsenal want big money, City don’t want to pay. Deal will be done on January 31st for £22-25m with both clubs saying it’s a good deal.

I can't get my head around this one at all. Yesterday when it broke I thought it was the usual bravado from the selling club to help get more cash out of City.

However Jose has basically come out and confirmed our interest which kind of begs the question why would he risk further ridicule of being gazumped by Pep? He must have a level of confidence too.

Very confused. Wouldn't shock me if he goes to another club either now. Seems very much out of the door at Arsenal though. Can't see him staying till May.

And all the people saying why would he choose Utd, give your head a wobble. We might be behind City on the pitch currently but we're not exactly Wigan athletic are we? The notion that only the team in 1st can attract world class players is just nonsense. We can still offer CL football, huge wages and the prestige of playing for the biggest club in the land by a long long way.

Maybe City are being pragmatic for once. Their valuation is fair and why pay what they deem over the odds for a player they don’t need who could actually disrupt the team chemistry?

He's going to City

posted on 12/1/18

Hardly ridicule if he did pick City over us. He's been bought by Pep before and knows exactly what to expect from him as a manager. He'd also pretty much be guaranteed at least a PL winners medal this season and would generally be joiner a stronger side, it's also been widely stated that he wants to join City.

Saw you were back on using your old username the other day. Thought you’d been banned.

And..I’d agree with what you say about city.

All set up for Chelsea to sneak in and nab him. Remember Pedro and Cesc?

Seriously though, it'd actually be very daft for us not to whack in a £35m bid, wouldn't it?

If he signed, we'd instantly have a £100m asset on our hands, as well as a superb player.

As Barry would explain, if it didn't work out, we could always swap him with Everton for Rooney and make back the £35m in shirt sales anyway.
