All set up for Chelsea to sneak in and nab him. Remember Pedro and Cesc?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a feeling they might try. Especially given he's settled in London already and that their forwards are all a bit pants

Their forwards aren't pants, per se. It's more a case of them only playing two at a time. And Chelsea fans pretend Conte isn't defensive.

Seriously though, it'd actually be very daft for us not to whack in a £35m bid, wouldn't it?

If he signed, we'd instantly have a £100m asset on our hands, as well as a superb player.

As Barry would explain, if it didn't work out, we could always swap him with Everton for Rooney and make back the £35m in shirt sales anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Won’t be a 100m asset as he won’t have much in the way of resale value due to his age.
If whoever gets him has the player that’s been underperforming for club and country for quite a while now, then it’s no value whatsoever
But if he returns to his prepissed off form then he’s a player

I don't care if he costs 40m to be honest. He is worth it. City already have 1 of the 4 best players in the league in KDB and if we have the opportunity to stop them adding a 2nd then we should take it.

From what I've heard, the thing attracting Sanchez to City is Guardiola. Factor that in with the fact that City happen to be very good right now, I don't see him ending up anywhere else, unless a team like PSG came in for him.

Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero and Sanchez would just be a piiiiiiiss take.

If City aren't prepared to get in a bidding war then he's only joining them on a free or not at all.

Yeah it would really emphasize the gulf in class between them as a team and everyone else.

Nobody is getting anywhere near them again next year if he goes there.

I think some of us have forgotten we’re Manchester United and we still have huge pull for players.

Now, I’m under no illusion that City is probably a more attractive option but we have plenty of plus points. We’re a more famous club, we have a manager too players respect and want to play for and aren’t too far away from challenging for major trophies over the next couple of seasons.

if Sanchez joins us it’s not him taking a step down. It’s a step up and we would do well to remember that

He's only just turned 29 years old.

In the current market, looking at the transfers of Neymar, Mbappe, Pogba, Lukaku, VVD, etc., on a 5-year contract, he'd have an immediate resale value of £100m.

If he's playing anywhere near the level he's at presently in three years' time, he'd go for £35m with two years left on his contract.

Bottom line is, at £35m, regardless of his current contract status, he's an absolute bargain.

Nah Utd is a huge step up from the Goonies.

We've given them Silvestre and Welbeck. They give us RVP and possibly now Sanchez or Ozil.

Part of the problem is he would cost close to 100m anyway if he’s after the wages and signing on fee that’s being reported.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly.

People talk about transfer fees as if it were the only money involved. In this case, it's the wages that make up the lion's share. And United will probably chuck in a load of incentives and performance bonuses too, not to mention signing on fees for him and his agent.

City are abslutely right to refuse to enter a bidding war. If United are that desperate that they are willing to pay through the nose, so be it. Even they will reach a point where they have to bring their expenses into check.

Getting Zlatan, Mkhi and Fellaini off the wage bill would cover that.

I don’t understand why people are saying guardiola would attract Alexis but Mourinho wouldn’t? I’d say mourinhos just as big a draw for big players tbh.
