david hemming.
yeah i can understand that. i think i thought the same the first time i watched actually. after that though i thought he was fine as an actor, and that the character was alright except for the sxeism. i do like antonioni films though generally as the cinematography tends to be excellent.

Superb film, one of my all time favourites.

Finally finished Salesman last night.

Iranian film. They do such interesting plotlines with no sensationalism just everyday people which keeps you hooked.

This is very good, by the end it manipulates your loyalties and leaves you with a 3 way dilemma at the end - who you sympathise with and whether you should. Great work.

The Killers 8.2/10

Kubrick film

Must be the original 'heist gone wrong' film.

Very good indeed

Should say The Killing

yeah good film that.
there's several heist films in that period though, including:

Asphalt Jungle (1950)
Rififi (1955)
The Killing (1955)
Bob le Flambeur (1955)

A lot of people rate Rififi, but Bob is my favourite with The Killing next. Asphalt is also decent.

Touchez Pas au Grisbi (1954) in which Bardot lifts her skirt up and sits on a desk flashing Jean Gabin.

I forgot Asphalt Jungle. Good shout.

Not seen Bob la Flambeur. Will add that to the list to watch.

Not sure if it really counts but The Ladykillers needs a mention. Ok maybe not as a heist gone wrong but it's bloody brilliant nonetheless.

Btw on The Killing, did Nolan make a nod to this film with the heist at the start of the Dark Knight? The clown masks are identical and each member getting killed off one by one.

You need to stick with Bob because, without it being a spoiler, it doesn't necessarily end exactly how it seems inevitable it will.
It's also a key film in the birth of New Wave. Stylish.
