How is 6 weeks not a major injury? He can miss something like 8 games in that time including a cup final, league match vs city and 4 Europa league fixtures (if we get past Ostersunds)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have now exactly the szenario I wrote about in January. I wouldnt have sold Giroud just for that Laca injury that now has happened. That could be costly for Arsenal to have sold OG.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that would have meant no Aubameyang. Now think abt it. How much would Aubameyang cost in the summer when Real Madrid, PSG and very likely Liverpool et al would have also come in for him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These clubs werent interested in Auba in the last summer and it isnt likely that they would this summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even Real Madrid are worried by the overshooting wage bills. They have put up Benzema for sale. Last season he was a regular.
Liverpool only now have £130m burning a hole in the pocket and have just moved on Sturridge to make space. Don't you think Klopp would now be interested?
PSG have a Neymar problem and FFP problem.
So no they couldn't have come in for him last summer when he was £90m+. But for £55m? Look at how much top class strikers are going for! There would have been tremendous competition for him.
And I haven't talked abt others like Chelsea who are going to change coach and so looking for different type of strikers next summer as opposed to last season.

We definitely did the right thing by getting Auba in, and if that meant Giroud had to go to make it happen then so be it. Have to think long term rather than worry about a 6 week period.
Wenger chose to keep Welbeck and sell Walcott and Giroud, meaning he has faith in him. We have little choice but to support Welbeck in the 4 games he could have to play in the Europa in the next month.

I only thing I give up long ago is the top 4 place in the PL. Money is what this game is about. CL participation brings us a lot of more money in in comparison for what we got for Giroud's sell. Yes, I would have risk to miss out on Auba in that case. But Wenger has a different opinion and thinks he can get a CL place through the PL.
Noises coming from the club lately is that Wenger will be "asked" to leave if we fail to qualify for the CL next season. Whether it is through the PL or the EL.
I guess Laca injury will have Wenger all stressed out and maybe he'll start to play players in their right position.
One can only hope ....

Actually I expected it after Kroenke's success at being bold at the LA Rams.
Think that’ll be basically his season over for us. Probably around mid April before he’s back to full fitness
I know in the end we had to let Giroud go but I said early in the window that if we left things too long Dortmund would run out of time to find a replacement and we’d end up having to part ways with Giroud
We should have paid up from day one, the haggling and penny pinching cost us

I guess Laca injury will have Wenger all stressed out and maybe he'll start to play players in their right position.
One can only hope ....

A motivated Welbeck fighting for his World Cup place, with all his faults wider, can do a job. Wouldn't trust him to score many goals but we aren't playing super class opposition for a while.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a cup final in 2 weeks with only one real proven striker in the squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aubameyang can play in the League Cup can't he?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. Mkhitaryan is cup tied but Auba is free to play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Auba was the ONE only proven striker I was referring to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Welbeck is proven. Not in a positive way, but definitely proved himself to be crap numerous times...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He did ok creating havoc when Giroud broke his leg. Even scored a hat trick as I remember.
Don't expect anything like that now but at least he is motivated compared to other non motivated players passing time, sitting on the bench.

I still remember THAT goal in the dying minutes against Leicester after he came back from injury.
I had so much hope for him after that.
Silly me.

Noises coming from the club lately is that Wenger will be "asked" to leave if we fail to qualify for the CL next season. Whether it is through the PL or the EL.
I guess Laca injury will have Wenger all stressed out and maybe he'll start to play players in their right position.
