I have issue with people saying the Lamela second penalty was definitively offside as that photo was not conclusive proof.
However, I think TOORs inability to let any debate lie, or listen to anyone else until he has shouted them down has killed any desire I have to discuss the matter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not conclusive proof? So the exact line drawn from one side of the pitch to the other with Lamela having one foot the other side of our last defender isn't conclusive enough? It was almost impossible to spot, so I have no issue with it not being given, but it was absolutely, technically, offside.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You talking about that one aerial photo, from an angle? That is the only one I saw and it isn't conclusive.

The day after the game, on the Spurs board:
2 articles complaining about Klopp’s celebrations, 1 article complaining that Klopp doesn’t know the rules, 1 comparing Pochettino's behaviour favourably to Klopp's, 1 complaining that Sky’s coverage was biased towards Liverpool, 1 complaining about van Dijk, 1 complaining about Liverpool fans’ reaction to the game.
Nowhere near that many articles about Spurs on the Liverpool board, and it continued on after that. Until today, in fact, and this article, because a game featuring Spurs in Italy will always stimulate articles about Liverpool, natch.
Plenty of people who were nothing to do with Liverpool disputed those decisions. It's not really worth raking over it again, but I suspect people like Keith Hackett and Mark Clattenburg have been watching football for more than 20 years, so the idea that the decisions were indisputable is just nonsense.
(And when did it become a valid defence that a player was only marginally offside? Countless marginal offsides have been given . There is offside and onside, there is no such thing as “only marginally offside” to mean “onside” )
As for the "meltdown", it's a well-established truism on ja606 that the Press and the FA support Liverpool, so I don't know why you continue complaining about it: once you've established that, it's like complaining that grass is green.

Greatteams - so you admit it was the emotion of the 'last minute' situation at Anfield rather than the actual events on the pitch that led to Liverpool fans totally losing their heads?
I get that a draw at Juve is nice, but without the offside goal we could have had WIN in Turin. A win we deserved. Yet still no whinging (until I show up!)
It seems obvious to me that following Salah's 91st min goal - a real beauty by the way - Anfield KNEW they'd won it. Klopp KNEW. Hence his run down the touchline. The problem with that reaction is it left him and the fans with nowhere to go psychologically when a perfectly valid 94th minute pen was scored.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you asking if a 94th minutes penalty meaning we drew the game instead of losing it had any impact on how Liverpool fans felt about the result? Really?
As for the whole "we would have won if"...it was a goal in the 2nd minute. Nobody knows what would have happened if that goal had been disallowed. Going 2-0 down forced your hand and at the same time changed Juve's mentality. I hate it when people think it's as black and white and can't recognise the nuances and changes that occur based on the scoreline.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No - you've intentionally misinterpreted there. No one would ever argue that losing in the last minute is something to be happy about. The very idea is ridiculous.
What I AM saying that there is a lack of dignity in re-writing the rules of football, falsely accusing players of diving and complaining, whinging and whining about officials who have actually made the correct decisions.
Is that easier for you?
And of course - neither of us can tell what would have happened if the 2nd min offside goal hadn't been given. But seeing as it made us play like a bunch of strangers for the next 7 minutes and concede ANOTHER goal, you'd have to be a fackin GENIUS to argue us conceding that goal was a positive...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a bizarre response. At what point did I say it was positive? You said you would have won the game if you hadn't conceded, which is absolute rubbish. As you thankfully recognise yourself.
And when did we lose in the last minute? As for re-writing the rules. Kane was onside but qualified refs have come out and said that he should have been given offside, so I think it is forgivable that some people believe that he was offside. As for the second goal, you keep claiming that people are re-writing the rules. I can only assume that you didn't know Lamela was offside. The actual kick itself made it a stonewall foul. I personally am cool with it though as it was a really tough one to get right.
You seem pretty angry and I'm not sure why. You got two 2-2- draws against good teams.

And choosing to ignore re-writing the laws of the game now that you know Lamela was offside and it completely destroys your original whinge?
You're a mess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll break it down for you. You're above comments were all based on me saying we would have won the game against Juve ("You said you would have won the game if you hadn't conceded, which is absolute rubbish."
However read back and you will notice that I said could have won the game. Which is evident to anyone who watched how we totally outplayed them.
Re: Lamela - again - I repeat - yes he was offside by about 5 inches from what I've seen when a red line is drawn across the pitch. Any reasonable football fan knows that this is impossible for a linesman to judge with the naked eye. It's as good as onside and we see these close calls every single week without the breakdown that followed from Liverpool fans.
The same photo also shows the defender is shoving Lamela into that offside position.
But seriously, arguing that the officials are biased based on a 5 inch offside decision only visible in freeze-frame

Scousers are the most sensitive souls in England,
All these years, Carragher has been handling the ball and stopping goal bound shots, not a single mention.
They are still crying over that game because they would steamroll us but in the end, they were outplayed and dominated with 66% of possession.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
coundnt give a toss morespunk your 5th were 3rd

You can add the possession trophy to the net spend, best training facility and most points over the last two seasons combined trophy.
Seems like that trophy cabinet at the new ground will be bursting.

Also Tommy, the timing is definitely a thing. Had Lacazette scored that last chance I would have been gutted and so down about that result. I am pretty happy with coming away with a 2-2 draw in the away leg, even if it was due to a dodgy decision. We are - as it stands - winning. It doesn't really count as a draw in a sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edin - yes of course gutted if Lacazette scored. But you're missing the point. We wouldn't have blamed a linesman. Or Arsenal. Or anyone else. The team and the fans would have said it's our fault for not taking our chances and worked harder to win the next one.
Re: winning vs Juve. Maybe best to discuss how important that offside goal could be after 2nd leg is over?

In my opinion if you have a wrong decision in the first five minutes it is more the fault of the team to not be able to rectify that. In the final minutes you don't really have time to, thus I understand feeling more aggrieved. I would be f*cking raging if Lacazette scored in the last minute through an offside goal - but that being said I would be more annoyed about us not being able to win it from that position.
Which tbf Liverpool fans should be focusing on how disappointingly bad they were that second half, and how Klopp is unable to 'control' a game.

Not sure I agree with you there. When you say if you have a wrong decision in the first five minutes it is more the fault of the team to not be able to rectify that, how many times have we seen a team take a lead and sit back? Totally changing how a match is played out tactically and how hard it is to break a team down.
Give Mourinho's Chelsea (Mk I) an undeserved one nil lead and it was virtually impossible to draw, let alone win.
I get why in the immediate aftermath of the match, the Liverpool fans would be gutted, but to start blaming everyone else - and not changing that message even 10 days later when you've calmed down a bit, is not right.
In my humble opinion
As in as a team I think your ability to see out games is poor; again it stems from a midfield that I think is one of the worst in the top 6, meaning that while other teams hold onto possession to see onto games you seem to struggle.
I assume the ‘more points’ comment is a WUM?
Obviously an early wrong decision can determine the outcome in a game but I think it’s no where near as severe as a late wrong decision hence probably raised emotions.

Define controlling game. As it stands we have more points than you, so....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its not like we have not had our own problems which has prevented our rise any higher. But I would say it is noticeable, especially now Countinho has left, that when LFC's preferred front foot tactic begins to fail, whether crashing against a parked defence or being dominated by the opposition, Klopp has struggled to really change the tide in a game back in LFCs favour. There is a bit of a lack of the dreaded Plan B.
I havent checked but I'd say LFC have probably thrown away quite a few more points from leading than they have gained from losing positions.
Seem to me like very good front runners. Start fast and cause most teams problems.

Seeing the Spurs v Juve game was only yesterday, I'm not sure how the comparisons could have been made earlier?
Besides, Anfield was only 10 days ago!
Wasn't aware that Klopp / van Dijk had apologised for their false accusations of diving which would have been the honourable way to put the topic behind us

I have issue with people saying the Lamela second penalty was definitively offside as that photo was not conclusive proof.
However, I think TOORs inability to let any debate lie, or listen to anyone else until he has shouted them down has killed any desire I have to discuss the matter.

TOOR
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I always thought TOOR was a wealthy individual when he was going on about all the Georgian furniture he owned.
Until I found out that he has a wife he got from a dodgy website who comes from the former USSR state Georgia.
I bet it was the tash that makes her look like Ian Rush in his prime that sealed the deal

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you saw the following MNF then you wouldn't have any doubts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I swear you have the most ironic nickname on your board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What? All I said was if you had seen MNF you would have been satisfied it was offside.
Jeez.

What do you expect?
Scousers are the most sensitive souls in England,
All these years, Carragher has been handling the ball and stopping goal bound shots, not a single mention.
They are still crying over that game because they would steamroll us but in the end, they were outplayed and dominated with 66% of possession.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
coundnt give a toss morespunk your 5th were 3rd
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can add the possession trophy to the net spend, best training facility and most points over the last two seasons combined trophy.
Seems like that trophy cabinet at the new ground will be bursting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s literally the same “joke” over and over and over and over...
Genuine q - is it mildly amusing, even to you?

Maybe best to discuss how important that offside goal could be after 2nd leg is over?

exactly my point. Tommy decided to try and take that down another route though.
