Why do no other countries in the world feel the need to start bombing all around the world, other than the usual three suspects USA, Britain and France.
Everybody is getting fed up with these war mongering leaders, who are doing it not to help the poor people of Syria, but for their own political gain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's going to be the UK and France at the top of the terrorist hit list again for the foreseeable future.
We never learn
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We do it because we have values, we can't just let countries use chemical.weapons on its own civilians, the question we should be asking is why do other countries sit back and let this happen?
On saying that we are picking and choosing when we do this, and are hypocritical in the way we don't apply the same rules to all atrocities and to all chemical attacks.
If we didn't do anything because we are scared of terrorists then what message does that send out?
Do what ever you want because Britain are too weak to do the right thing and administer justice where deserved, in case we upset some criminals?
With wealth and influence comes responsibility. ..we can't have it both ways.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What happened to these values when Mugabe was running a mock in Zimbabwe....oh yeah there’s no gain whatsoever by taking action there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, you are right
Now you have highlighted one of the hypocracies my mind is changed ...because of Zimbabwe we can sit back on our moral high horse and say fack the innocent children in Syriah without a twinge of guilt.
Thanks for your help in changing my moral compass, I failed to indicate at a roundabout the other day ...so now I refuse to indicate at any junction ever again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is one conflict treated differently than the other?
If you had family in Zimbabwe you'd ask why wasn't anything done about Mugabe.
It seems that attrocities anywhere else in the 3rd world come 2nd in importance to what goes on in the oil rich middle east. There has to be a reason why this is so

Blackstar, totally agree with you. President Trump has a lot of faults, but atleast he has the balls to actually take action against monsters like Assad unlike that doormatt Obama. I think people are being extremely dramatic in thinking world war 3 is comingoh please!!! You are dammed if you do, dammed if you don't with certain people in this country. If people are getting killed in other 3rd world countries and people do nothing about it, they get criticised. People get killed in a 3rd world country and finally we do something about it, you get people screaming we are starting wars
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Africa is awash with dictators worse than Assad, and the West does absolutely nothing. China, Burma all have awful regimes, but the West does nothing.
Britain is just a poodle of Trump and his idiotic and dangerous behaviour on the world scene. A couple of months ago he was going to nuke North Korea, now he is dropping bombs on Syria. The fella is a complete headcase, and as usual Britain is following the USA like a dutiful puppy dog.
I am sorry Don, but the most dangerous leader in the world is Trump by a countrymile.

Said it earlier in the week and I’ll say it again
If Trump was so interested in helping the people of Syria he’d be taking in some refugees that he tried to block from entering the US at the start of his presidency.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There should be a law if you go to war with a country to 'help' them you should take in their refugees.

What I don't get is how people are outraged we did nothing in Zimbabwe are now outraged we did actually do something in Syriah.
Our government are hypocritical for sure ...but that is a fair representation of the comments I see posting here.
If Zimbabwe upset you then you should be saying well done for Britain finally doing the right thing for once, ulterior motives or not.
Don't get me wrong, I see the argument, but you have to agree with yourself before disagreeing with others.
SANDy , you can't have it both ways mate. On one hand you are saying how wrong we were for morning getting involved with Zimbabwe, but on the other you are criticising trump for doing something against the Assad regime. No I don't agree that Trump is a lunatic. The North Korean president is a lunatic as is Putin. President Trump has the balls unlike the former president who was more interested in being everyone's best mate. I'm for world peace and certainly don't condone any war, but if we feel a regime as monsterous as Assad's needs eradicating then I'm all for it,

With Zimbabwe being part of the commonwealth then surely the UK morally should have intervened with what went on.
But as has been pointed out previously their was nothing to gain financially in the UK getting involved with Zimbabwe.
We as a nation haven't got any links with Syria like the French do,so why have we got involved
Isn't this why the UNITED NATIONS was set up ? Surely they vote on World issues and votes will never be 100% unanimous so an overwhelming vote for bombing
should be followed up with the action.
US and Russia should be told that abstaining won't stop the vote or the subsequent action.

Not going to say any names but reading this thread it is embarrassing how some posters think the UK and US are mighty and just, and the third world countries have horrible dictators who should face consequences for their actions.
Firstly, what research have you done on tjose countries and their regimes, or do you think they are bad because of the message the mainstream media feeds you?
Secondly, the Western leaders have committed atrocities for hundreds of years and are never held accountable or apologise for their past. Yet now they are the world police on what is right vs wrong?
Thirdly, these "dictators" are only demonised once they are notmplaying by the rules that the West has told them to abide by for their own benefit! Gadafi being a prime example.
