Continuing the theme of misinterpretation of statistics, it is not that great a credit to a team that they have massive possession stats when the tactics of the opposition is to put 9 men behind the ball to deny space in the final third. Birmingham actually didn't even change that tactic when they fell behind. They only attempted to get something positive from the game for a short spell when they were down to ten men. And adopting that more positive approach led to us finding space behind them for the first time and getting a second goal.
Must say I was surprised at the thuggish tactics adopted by Blues that lead to Neves being kicked out of the game and Jota also being targeted. Didn't expect such an approach from Gary Monk who I thought was more into trying to play decent football.

Akinfenwa - seriously?
Don't think I would be desperate to keep Afobe or Bonatini for next season, but would have to be extremely desperate to want the Whale instead.
As for player of the season I think Sessegnon is a worthy winner of young player of the season, but having seen a few Fulham games on tv recently he is nowhere near as big an influence on games as Neves
I agree DJ, for me Sessegnon would be a shoe-in for young player of the season, they go on he got in for his 16 goals, he's a winger he should be scoring in those kinds of number, much like our very own Jota.
Neves has dominated games, and all our play goes through him, very Pirlo-esque but with the work rate and being able to put a foot in
Player of the season, He's a good player and may end up a superb player, but he is still very young.
Still he does play for Foolham.
Still only 17 years old so very impressive
an enjoyable afternoon at the mol, flattered that big george and portuguese george felt they had to be there with me
stopped off on the way back at halesowen to see my villa supporting stepson just to let him know how we'd got on - timed it right and left just before he was about to tell me to fook off.
as for afobe, he's got a goal every 115 minutes since the end of january and is classed a british, think we would be mad not to take him while still looking for a blockbuster marquee signing.
Think he is ahead of Bonatini at this stage contract wise but not sure we will take either though as you say the British thing will become a factor as we strengthen this summer.
I'd take Fobe, I think B'mouth still owe us some cash for him, so maybe we could write it off? decent finisher, seems to want to stay and his "home-grown" status is useful.
read a rumour that we've been linked with Jack Wheelchair from Arsenal....'fobes BFF
glass legged one-time future star wilshire is one of the many suggested signings that nuno wouldn't touch with a barge pole
You look Afobe and Bonatini and think, yeah they're good but we need more from them for where we are going. Leo's just completely dried up and lost confidence around the box, Afobe will get you goals, but does he fit with our plan A?
Would be tempted to keep both if we have a cheap options on them but not first as first choices.
Just read that Blues are planning to appeal Dean's red card. Good luck with that lads.
But then Robinson's got rescinded last season so you never know.
not sure we have the squad space for both, isn't the premierleague a 25 man squad?
for me Leo would be a no go, I know that's harsh but we need players we're confident can step up
With regard to Sessegnon, I don't think you can compare him to Neves at all. He played as a LB for most of the first half of the season. It was when he played either LM or LW that both he and Fulham started their great run. There's no doubt he's a good, talented lad and at 17 he must surely have a good future. Whether he stays at Fulham will probably depend on where they finish this season.
As for Afobe and Bonatini, I'd like to think we'd go for bigger fish next season with possibly a top class striker from abroad. I'd thank them for their services, but send them back to their parent clubs. A real shame with regard to Bonatini tho', as he looked the part during the first half of the season.
It's interesting to note that the EFL team of the season has Sessegnon at LB in a 4-3-3 system. Still think Neves should have got the Championship player of the season tho'. Maybe it was decided before his wonder goal the other day.
not into stats. particularly possession, personally but these from yesterday are quite something
wolves first
possession 76 - 24
passes 843 - 244
pass accuracy 91% - 68%

They really are and if teams want to come and not play we can just knock it about all day and still win comfortably.

went there once on a bank holiday. took 40 minutes to get down the hill to the sea front to fimd out that there was nowhere to park and then 40 minutes to get back up the hill, effin sh!thole
Bonatini has mirrored the form of Iwelumo when we last went up and shouldn't be considered on a full time deal. We can buy better players who can still do all the link up play but with more of an end product.
Afobe maybe but only as backup and not on a long term deal.
I could see us going for ever Aboubakar or Marega from Porto. We were linked with Aboubakar at the start of the season and both have done well.
Bournemouth will more than likely want to sell Afobe and he's not worth the 10m they're asking. So let's go for better.

There is a car park at the top, and the bottom. I'm at the Penwig Hotel, with a car park at the back. This place is anything but a sh*t'ole, so please don't apply for any jobs with the Welsh Tourist Board!
If anyone is near, pop in the Penwig, and I'll let you buy me a beer!
Remember buying my first "case" ball from New Quay in Wales with my birthday money when I was a nipper, It was orange and black rather than the standard white which was the obvious attarction, however as was the way back in the 70s the paint all came off after it had been kicked about three times.
