Told you in your Vieira thread dj.

Its been obvious for a while.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You also spent last season saying he would definitely leave though. After he extended in the summer nothing was obvious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not say he will leave. I said he should leave and we should get Allegri to replace him.

However I said this time he will leave. The above was my wish and the second was some insight.

Wow! Weird time to announce it

What a few days before the season defining clash with Atletico? Not really. Just the lift we needed at the right time.

Dont think the players will see it like that

Well they should

And if they don’t they can faaaack off with him

posted on 20/4/18

Yep, this should motivate the players to go out on a high for him. If they serve up the same crap that’s been seen all season they clearly don’t give a feck about him

And I hope the whole of Old Trafford give him a standing ovation next week.

'Strange timing...'

Disagree with this. Think Arsene has timed it just right.

Alan Curbishley front runner for the Arsenal job at 6/4

Great manager just didn't recognize it was a mistake signing his last extension. I wish he had stayed as an ambassador role or even on the board. Don't think his pride would allow that and it is a loss to Arsenal.

3 FA Cups and possibly the Europa in the last 5 years. Genuinely going to be tough for a new manager to match that silverware. Could you expect to win a league title or CL in that time, or would you just be happy if after 5 years you had little silverware but were getting near the PL and CL?

Agree with this, review the next manager in the next 5 years and see how he get's on, can't see anyone emulate what Wenger has done at Arsenal

I think most fans would be happy if Arsenal were challenging again and not dropping further away from the top 4.

Just switched my phone on to about 500 different messages.

Very curious timing.

It will be very interesting to see the reaction from both the fans and the squad at the Emirates on Sunday.

End of an era.

Very curious timing.

Chelsea and other clubs will be making changes as well. So it was necessary to start any negotiations early.

It will impact our summer business.

Why did you have 500 messages?

and why did you turn your phone off?

All my mates from back home checking in to see whether I got the news.

There's no point bothering with your phone when you're on a construction site miles out into the Sahara.

Patrick Vieira coming home

Arsenal’s majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has released a statement in light of Arsene Wenger’s decision to step down as Arsenal manager this summer.

“This is one of the most difficult days we have ever had in all our years in sport. One of the main reasons we got involved with Arsenal was because of what Arsène has brought to the club on and off the pitch.

“His longevity and consistency over such a sustained period at the highest level of the game will never be matched.

“Arsène has unparalleled class and we will always be grateful to him. Everyone who loves Arsenal and everyone who loves football owes him a debt of gratitude.

“Three Premier League titles, including an entire season unbeaten, seven FA Cup triumphs and 20 successive years in the Champions League is an exceptional record. He has also transformed the identity of our club and of English football with his vision for how the game can be played.

“We have high ambitions to build on Arsène’s remarkable tenure and to honour his vision by ensuring that Arsenal competes for and wins the biggest and most important prizes in the game.

“We must now focus on making a strong finish to the season and ask our millions of fans around the world to join us in paying appropriate tribute to one of the greats of Arsenal’s history and one of the greats of the game.”
