Patrick Swayze.

Point Break don’t work without Swayze
Never saw him as an action guy, even though he could do it.

You got me wrong, I said, he could do action, but there was more to him. Talented guy.

Ah gotcha.

He’s good in comedies as well. Like Ghost.

The best performance of The Rock is Central Intelligence.

The kind of action movies that used to work in the 90s can never work in today's world with everyone being woke and needing story and character development.

In the 90s we got proper cis alphas...who today is the sccuum of the earth on the socials.

Basically people like NPE have killed the archetype action star

I mean some of them still get their shine but it will never be a thing like it was in the 90s

I mean back in the day you had your action star avenge his best friend's death (real brotherhood) by going on a massive murder spree committing all sorts of arson and grand theft auto, banging his dead best friend's wife along the way and just not giving af about any sort of authority...those guys were our superheroes. True alpha energy

As Eulogy’s go, that’s a brilliant tribute to the Action Film of yesteryear.

What a time to be alive.

I think there are a few reasons why we no longer see traditional action stars:

Society and its views changing
Consumers having more options
The internet providing on demand services
The rise of the superhero genre
The increased use of CGI
Actors wanting a variety of roles
Movies becoming big spectacles

There was a period in the 2000s where there was potential action stars that were ready to take the baton, such as Jason Statham,Vin Diesel,Liam Neeson,Gerard Butler but they all seem to have had their moment in the sun.

Also after Arnie everyone else would be second best

posted on 1/11/22

I'd personally go Stallone over Arnie.

posted on 1/11/22

I think I also prefer Stallone, purely because of Rocky

Arnie is the GOAT of action stars.

no ifs, no buts

Total Recall is the reason Arnie is above everyone.

But his catalogue just doesn't stack up tbh

"I've spoken to several people that have seen the movie and they all had fun watching it but they wouldn't or didn't feel any need to watch it again."

It must be a pretty tiny percentage of people that actually go back to the theatre and watch the same movie again, literally dont know of anyone who does that
