I'm starting to think that DC might be a cursed property, certainly when it comes to live action movies. There's such a long history of weird issues, problems and disasters all the way back to the original Richard Donner Superman. Even the beloved Nolan trilogy was tarnished by Heath Ledger's death.

How was Nolan's trilogy tarnished by Ledger's death? It's considered one of the best trilogies of all time and if anything, Ledger's death elevated the TDK.

Well Heath Ledger's Joker was meant to be in the third movie and I can only imagine that it would have been better with him in it. Much better in fact. It may have been even better than The Dark Knight itself, we'll never know sadly. Instead the movie had to be reworked and we ended up with a movie that many are a bit indifferent to.

I'm talking about the third movie, The Dark Knight Rises.

I think Rises was still a good movie but probably the worst of the trilogy.

Yeah was a fantastic adaptation.

Disney have actually put Love & Thunder up as a 'For Your Consideration' - Oscar categories of Best Picture, Director, etc.

I know this is the done thing these days but come on ffs

Definitely a good movie but it has weaknesses and it's not in the same league as the first two imo. And the majority of fans consider it their least favourite of the trilogy.

I believe the third movie would have been better if Ledger had been alive and able to star in it. I also believe it would have had a very different storyline regardless of what Nolan has said publicly since. Which in turn would likely have made it better as I consider plot one of the weaker elements in Rises.

We'll never know but I've always felt we were robbed of a brilliant third movie when Ledger passed away.

I thought rises was the weakest of the trilogy tbf.

TDK stood out as the best.

possibly the greatest comic film of all time.

the end of rises seems very rushed IMO.

Didn't one of the writers come out and say that Nolan never filmed the movies with a trilogy and overarching storylines in plan.

I don't have a problem with TDKR as much as everyone else...I think it gets a bad rep because it's the weakes of the 3...it's still pretty decent if you can get past Hardy's voice

Obviously there's plot holes as there will always will be with any movie

Also if you get past Bane's nonchalant character for the movie

I really liked TDKR.

My main issue was Bane's death and the Talia twist which was so obvious.

I dont see anyone saying htey have a problem with TDKR, just that it was the weakest of the trilogy.

Angela Bassett has been nominated for a Golden Globe - Best Supporting Actress for her role in BP2

Also Diego Luna nominated for Andor

I managed to watch Black Adam online and it's a mindless action flick, although the action wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The story or lack of it was atrocious which nullifies the action scenes,because it then just becomes BA flying around and punching people. The villain fight was comical but I did enjoy Dr Fates scenes and he was probably the star of the show. The kid and his mum were an annoyance and atom smasher and cyclone were forgettable characters.

Overall, I'd give it a 6/10. If you ignore the rest of the DC universe and view this as a standalone movie, it's a palatable enough watch.

In terms of rankings, I'd put BA above Black Widow and Thor 4.

I thought BA made terrible use of slow-mo in its action.

Kid and his mum - way too much unnecessary focus on them.

Didn't mind atom and cyclone though.

Yeah the final fight was terrible

It was like a bad video game cutscene

The slow motion worked well for the first scene but they kept on using it and it made the action very bland.

Quite a few of the fight scenes felt this way.

The movie has this strange tone where you go from one scene to another and the story isn't pushing the direction and they'll randomly put in a fight scene because they couldn't come up with anything better.

Also the twist about BA being the father of the first champion was too obvious. I recognised him the moment the kid was taken away from the mining guards.

I actually didn't realise they were trying to make a twist out of it when I watched the film, as it was so recognisably him

I thought the story developed nicely through the action...the movie doesn't let you rest once it starts
