Problem is the Matrix has aged badly
partly because everyone copied their techniques and other filmmakers like Nolan and Villenueve have arguably just gone beyond what they achieved visually
Also how carp was the writing past the first one
Thats my main reservation for a 4th film
The first one is still iconic.
The rest should never have been made.
Before I get into the trailer, I'd like to say that Matrix 1 is still one of my favourite films of all time. It still holds up and it's place in the pantheons of film making is undisputed. Matrix reloaded and revolution, were huge disappointments, despite reloaded exploring some great themes and potential story points.
Since that trilogy, I have watched the animatrix, which I would highly recommend for anyone that has an interest in the Matrix, outside of the action scenes.
Definitely if you have a thing for leather outfits

As far as this latest trailer goes, it felt underwhelming to me, aside from the monetary injection of nostalgia that I got from seeing Trinity, who still looks stunning. I'm a big Keanu fan but why could they not shave his beard and cut the hair, because all I saw was John Wick. It was like my brain wanted to see Neo but it wasn't allowing me to see beyond John Wick.
I know many people think the Matrix should have been left as a standalone but I believe a trilogy could have been successful, if done correctly. This 4th installment unfortunately, seems like a cash grab. They will be banking on Neo and Trinity to carry this movie, which is a major issue for me, as I'd like to see other characters and stories within the Matrix.
Time will tell how good the movie is and like many others, I have reservations but I will certainly watch this, albeit not in the cinema.

So so true, to have him have the same look as John Wick is not a good thing... unless there's a swerve and they'll show him with his shaven head again...
But if they don't then thats just lazy.
Matrix 1, defo, a great film. But what came after was self indulgent clap trap. The whole white room, with Mr 'Ergo' ... criminal.
Pun!! Mephisto?!! I swear if this dude isn't revealed in any phase 4 films, you have to do a forfeit.
