Get well soon Sir Alex. Your football, your passion and your success has given me great joy in my life. You've been at Man Utd most of my life. I couldn't imagine not seeing you at the games.

Stay strong and pull through.

Not ashamed to say I feel a bit teary about this.

In my 40 years on earth this man has given me some of my most memorable moments.

I'm sure he'll pull through though the fighter that he is.

Hopefully he pulls through and gets well.

Hope he makes a full recovery. He's an iconic figure not only in sport but in general. Grew up watching him clean up year after year with Man Utd. Get well Soon Fergie.

Hopefully he pulls through and makes a full recovery. These sort of things seem the worst, as they can come out of nowhere and can affect the healthiest of people. Scary.

Hey well soon Fergie, the man is a football legend

He's in Salford Royal, couldn't really be in a better place if it's stroke related.

I hope he lives to see us win number 21 one day. I'm sure it would mean the world to him to see it as it did for Sir Matt back in 93 to see us win our 8th.

Him and Sir Matt are Manchester United.

Methuselah wouldn't have lived to see you lift number 21 and he was 969 when he pegged out.

Oh dear, dear me...this really is sad, sad news about Sir Alex. I’ve always respected the great man. I’ll keep track of developments on here.

What a strange comment, not having a go at all but everyone’s time comes, hopefully he can pull through, he’s a fighter so if anyone at that age can pull through I would bet on him to

We’ll get to see who the real cants on this board are if they try point scoring tonight

We'll win number 21 before you ever win a CL.

Rivalries should be put aside at times like this. The football family should all be hoping he pulls through. I know Shankly alluded to it differently but it is only a game.

Get well soon
