The off-season...

Central Midfield is the priority for me. Dembele is probably off and even if he does stay, his form has been indifferent this season and he's injury prone.

I don't think Winks is good enough, nor is Sissoko. We need a quality ball playing CM.

If Spurs lose Alderweireld, Rose and Dembele in one summer they will struggle not to be worse next season.

Can't see Spurs going out and getting guys who will improve on those 3 from the off.

Wishful thinking on the guys you expect big improvements from. Wanyama and Moura i would agree on plus maybe Foyth.
Aurier has always been a bombscare that is part of his nature you won't rid him of much like Luiz at Chelsea.
Llorente is 33 more likely to get worse than better. Winks just isnt that good and Lamela imo has peaked.

I suspect a lot more work is needed than you believe..

100% agree. To me the upside with KWP is higher than both Aurier & Trips. I don't think he would have done any worse than those 2 combined. ... RB was our biggest weakness all season. If I was Poch coaching him this summer (ala Rose & Walker) would be my preference over a nutter like Aurier

Fair, I was trying to be optimistic! I hope we keep hold of all three of those players but let's not forget that despite their quality, we've survived without Toby and Rose.

I think you're right about the overall quality of Aurier and Llorente but I still think they will perform their roles slightly better.

Sidenote: Poch seems to have been relying on the youth players much less since the stakes got higher - I wonder if we've seen the end of that pipeline into the first team squad?

CM is a huge priority. Probably need two in if Dembele goes ( although I hop he doesn’t ).

Then replacement for Toby and Rose I guess.

Do you think there's any score for Eriksen or Ali to drop back there long term? The forward three is a bit crowded these days

Not for me, we need a proper CM and an eriksen like player so we dont rely so much on him.

Dele Eriksen, Moura, Son, Lamela all competing for 3 positions, so not really that crowded. If Llorente goes then there is cover with these guys for Kane too. Even Lamela might go and we could look at another FW

Brutal but accurate

I think the only one you've maybe undersold a touch is Aurier, who has all the raw ingredients if he can sort his head out. I think Winks has plenty of unrealised potential but agree he'll never be a world-beater.

Left back: Digne, Kurzawa, even Shaw would improve under Pochettino

Centre back: De Ligt has been linked but at 18 isn't the answer yet. Lascelles or Mawson seem to be the other names going around, though I'm not convinced either is good enough.

Centre mid: Max Meyer or Jean-Michael Seri as a ball-player/-carrier in the Modric mould.

Forward: Sessegnon, Zaha and Malcom are the names linked. Personally think Sessegnon would be a touch overpriced but could be a phenomenal player so maybe worth it. Spurs don't play to Zaha's strengths at all since I don't see him being effective when receiving slow ball in front of the defence. I like Malcom and hope Spurs get him.

Ive thought that for a while.... I could see Dele playing deeper in more of a box to box midfield role. I think the more he's involved... the better he plays

Based on signing nobody (which obviously wont be the case) this summer.... how about this.....

*************Hugo***********
***Toby****Sanchez***Jan***
***KWP****Dier*******Rose**
************Dele**********
*******Eriksen***Moura****
*************Kane*************

Bench..... Winks, Dembele, Sonny, Aurier/Rose, Foyth

I would say that is Zaha's strong point, he can run at defenders and create the space, he doesn't need it in behind as he's a creator rather than a goal scorer. He would be a magnificent signing imo.

I think the Moura signing shows we are done with Zaha..... V similar players

The squad right now needs another ball-carrying, physical CM in the Dembele mould. Basically what we hoped Sissoko would be.

Assuming Toby and Rose leave (), we then need first team replacements at LB and CB. By this I mean players who will make the starting line-up from Day 1, not 18 year olds and not 'projects'.

If Dembele leaves then we need to replace him too.

On Football Manager I'd be signing Ruben Neves, Doucoure, Bertrand and De Vrij. Saying that I'd first of all be giving Toby the pay rise he deserves...

Toby got a fantastic ovation when he came on last night. Nice message sent to the board - not that it'll affect anything. He's gone and we'll rue that big time.

De Vrij is the best like-for-like replacement for Alderweireld, but he's signed for Inter by all accounts. On £70k per week, which is infuriating.

Ruben Neves would be superb, but he'd be crazy expensive. I like Doucoure and Lemina - both powerful ball-carriers - but I don't think either is the quality Spurs need to push on a level. Similarly Bertrand - decent player, but he won't turn Spurs from top 4 hopefuls into title challengers.

Having said that, I would be happy seeing all of those players at Tottenham, they'd all improve the squad if not necessarily the first XI.

2 wing backs, with pace, if Toby leaves need replacement, central midfield although after watching last nights effort, Winks would be an improvement plus get a young striker as back-up for Kane
