I think we need to keep Ramsey. I would be more willing to let Wilshere go. Although I would prefer to keep both and have them sign longer deals.

the summer needs to be about a GK, DCM and probably 2 CB's.

Keeping Ramsey would probably mean doubling his wages though. Would have a massive impact on who we can sign in terms of a GK, DCM and 2 CBs, even with new deals.

Sick of these contract sagas.

If they sign, they sign. If they don't, they can Fack off.

We can replace them

Imagine a scenario where we could keep them both and also sign a new CM. Crazy.

Would have a negative effect on what we could sign in other areas, such as CB and keeper.
We should be able to go above the 7m wage rise limit due to our new deals, but not sure by how much.
Giving Ramsey a new contract would probably mean anything we save from selling fringe players would be used up already.

There comes a point when a player is not worth his wage demands and provided he's got some sale value then you sack them off... could well be Ramsay's time

Swapping Wenger for Arteta should free up about £8m in wages

Player wage...

But the total wage increase per year isn't limited to just players.

Ramsey is decent. Wilshere is awful.

So how is it in our interest to sell Ramsey and keep Wilshere?

It is though:
"Where the Club has elected to be assessed on the ‘Prior Year Basis’, the Club must satisfy the Board of any of the following:
that the sum of the Club’s Player Services Costs and Image Contract Payments has not increased by more than £7m when compared to the previous Contract Year"

So we horde the rubbish, lower wage players in the squad and sell the good ones to free up wages for players we want to sign.

Yeah, i got that bit.

The bit i'm struggling is attract these top players when your squad has diminished in quality.

Ramsey would require a significant wage rise to stay, Wilshere probably wouldn't.
Ramsey would illicit a transfer fee, Wilshere wouldn't.

Of course Ramsey would command a wage raise. He's actually a fair decent football player whereas Wilshere really isn't.

It isn't a coincidence Wilshere has his contract run down and no one at Arsenal is panicking about it.

The key players are Aubameyang and Ozil.
If you are trying to sign a midfielder then I am not sure Ramsey staying would be vital to that!

Wilshere is a good player, as is Ramsey, there really isn't a gulf in quality between him and Ramsey. They just do different things.
It is also vital that the new manager changes how our midfield functions. Ramsey and Ozil in the same team weakens us defensively. Certainly something the new boss will have to address, even if Ramsey stays.

£35m - £50m for Ramsey? Seems a bit steep.

Drinkwater, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Bernadeschi, Paulinho, Tolisso, Bakayoko, Sigurdsson, Davinson Sanchez, Matic are just some of the players who went last summer for between £35m and £50m....

Silly idea to sell Ramsey or Wilshere. Both are very good on their day and Ramsey is a match winner.
Target other players if you are worried about wages.

Don't be so ridiculous. Try Elneny, Welbeck and most of the defenders.

Well that is simple. Because it would take selling about 10 of those to cover the Ramsey wage demand.
Some will be sold as well, Mustafi and Welbeck should be high on the list.
