Some men just want to watch the world burn
Same reason many remainers seem to want the UK to fail and have become cheerleaders for people like Barnier and Juncker, the whole thing has become very tribal.

It doesnt need me to want it to fail. It is a utopian project, where many of its flagship ideas from currency union to free movement are already under significant strain.
It also has an unfortuante situation where nations are permanently divided on some issues in a way that may not be fixable.
On a personal level, I am opposed to arbitrary power, and centralised systems of governance that arent liable for the decisions they make.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This^.
Also, why is the constant printing of debt (from thin-air) by Draghi and co to continually prop-up the failing bloc never mentioned?
The last time The EU failed, World War II took place.
Brexiters seem happy for it to go down that path again.

What?
The EU was formed after WW2 so unless time travel was involved I think you're mistaken.

Belter!
The inevitable us v them side-effect of Brexit.
For some, the EU is now a bogeyman rather than our ongoing partners. For 40 years we benefited from, helped write the rules for and shaped the system that so many are now saying is corrupt and unworkable. Not our fault guv!
Maybe because it's an undemocratic, despotic organisation with its own agenda that believes the plebs aren't worth listening to?
I mean who wants to be told what to do by faceless, unelected drunks like Jean-Claude Druncker,Barnier,Schultz,Tusk et al?

It is a socioeconomic experiment that has failed, three or four net contributors and the rest with the begging bowl out,the single currency suits no-one but Germany are you really too thick to see this?
Spain,Italy,Portugal,Greece youth unemployment is at somewhere between 50-75% and economic migrants are pouring in by the tens of thousands every day.
The whole thing is an unmitigated disaster if you don't realise that you must walk around with your head up your backside!

The EU in its present form was not formed until after the war agreed. But for centuries European countries with their empires had formed alliances. Come the 1930s Europe had divided into lots of nationalistic countries, Britain included, and we all know what happened next.
The Nationalistic Brexit fanatics seem to want Europe to follow the same outcome.

Is that the main filler component between your jug ears?
What's funny is that many of the criticisms of the EU are nothing to do with it. Instead it's more often than not issues with our own current or previous governments that have been unashamedly blamed on the EU
It's an easy target for a poor government and it's no wonder many simpler people can't sort the propaganda from the reality
The EU will not fail. For all the whining it has done so much good for the continent and the world as a whole.
The sad thing is the leaders of the UK have not communicated that to it's people.
For example that 94% of the time we got what we wanted and didn't have to bail anyone out, got our own currency.
We were the ones that chose to allow the Eastern Europeans come in the way they did. There was a choice as to the membership and immigration. We pushed for expansion to the east and did not apply the same immigration restrictions Germany and many others did.
Basically, our politicians screwed up but it's easy to blame the EU.
One wonders whether it's the EU selling British companies below their value, destroying the NHS, making cuts to public services to prop up tax avoidance and many many more.
One of the most stupid decisions I've seen a country make in my lifetime.

For centuries European countries formed alliances?? Yeah... To attack someone else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that not Sandys point? The fact nobody is attacking anybody, that we're experiencing the longest European peace in history.

That is down to NATO you fool and NOTHING to do with the EU!
'Why does the EU want to punish the UK for leaving?'
IMO many (disaster capitalists like JRM) it's for financial gain. Others are unhappy with the EU regulatory framework.
The UK is also a world leader in regard to tax avoidance, (British overseas territories) and EU anti money laundering/ tax avoidance directives will curtail many tax avoidance schemes.
Also, why is the constant printing of debt (from thin-air) by Draghi and co to continually prop-up the failing bloc never mentioned?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, not one single answer (in almost 2yrs of asking) from the Remain camp.
Oh well.
The EU isn't perfect but I would rather have seen the UK stay in and try and change it for the better than leave.
It has become a black and white issue though for some ao that's why you see people being so tribal about it. I do think it was the wrong decision but I hope against hope that I am wrong. To be honest now I'd rather see the UK break up too and the individual countries become independent within a strong UK bond and within the EU too.
