why tf didnt they bat first the last test and today as well.
253 after 30 overs. The double your score at 30 overs is going to take some feat but being 1 down with 2 well set batsman and a lot of firepower to come, 500 is definitely on.

Poor decision by Paine really and can't believe Morgan would have done the same.
Pitch looks a belter although there has been some turn which is why Agar has been the pick of the bowlers and rewarded with the wicket of Bairstow. Glad to see we've made the right call in promoting Buttler. Gives him some time to get going in launching an assault towards that magic figure of 500.
Buttler gone. Morgan in. 100 for Hales off 62 balls!
Morgan was on 5 from 7 balls but he's just moved to 50 from 21 balls to hit England's all time fastest half century and also become England's leading run scorer in ODI.
The world record is about to go. Astonishing! How big will it be?
As a Pakistan fan I am happy to lose the record to the Aussies
Australia getting their comeuppance for being absolute w@nkstains for the past couple of decades
Shame we just slowed up a bit at the end there. Hopefully England learned something from those final few overs. Not that Aus should get anywhere close to this.
Can't put too much blame on Root for that. He's a guy who usually picks gaps and runs well to score at a good tempo. Would have made more sense to send Willey or Plunkett out as they are more used to coming out swinging from ball 1. His timing was off as he was trying to smash every ball.

Same only started watching from 400 onwards for tht very reason. ..... well played England
That's one hell of a beating. Was never going to be easy chasing that score for the Aussies but they set a decent platform at the start to their credit.
No excuses for England now. Must win World Cup next year and no bottle job.
bit of a farce serries from the aussies point of view, no starc, hazelwood, cummings, (smith/Warner).
What did English players eat for breakfast as they were even better than perfect today. They didn't score 500 today against Australia in 50 overs and that was the only disappointment for them today.

Some things have been out of their control but even things like moving Finch down the order has just been over thinking things.
I wouldn't make England favourites for the world cup though. The bowling isn't the best and the batting can struggle when the ball swings or turns. Moeen and Rashid looking to be improving though and Woakes and Stokes should improve our bowling.
Mickey mouse cricket, like a glorified game of baseball. Everything is weighted in favour of batsmen in these one day games. 20/20 is a joke form of the game, 50 over cricket is going the same way. Give me Test Cricket any day of the week.
the trent bridge pitch is a flat brick road as well, 400+ plus scored have been a regular occurrence not just for eng but for notts also,
Yes Sandy I agree with your comment.
It's sad to see that rather than celebrating this huge score by England, we're discussing whether ODIs are weighted too much in the favour of batsmen. Yes, they probably are but it's not like bowlers have no chance every single match.
England just batted supremely well and Australia bowled poorly for most of the innings. At the end, they tried to bowl yorkers, a lot of which ended up being full tosses but it got them wickets. Slower balls also seemed to do the trick and you just feel they should have done this earlier and more often.
Paine lost control of the game and they only really pulled something back after Hales smashed another 6 to break the world record. He didn't have their best bowlers and their back up guys got torn apart and they're young with an inexperienced captain. Yhe way Roy and the ridiculously in form Bairstow came out, they were under so much pressure and didn't have any experience to claw it back.
This score by England isn't some new dawn, it's just a freak score by a powerful batting line up who committed to their shots against some very ordinary bowling on the flattest pitch in the country.
i know you can get banned for having a rubbish pitch for batsmen but can you get banned for having a rubbish pitch for bowlers? again everything is weighted towards the batsmen in world cricket
England are 2good for this format. They will win World Cup next year easy. No team can match England except Indians
And Pakistan team when in the mood.Personally I would love to see either England or South Africa win ICC Cricket World Cup in England in 2019.
England struggling now in the T20. Fairly typical shot gets Moeen out for 6. 117-6.
