AJ v Povetkin Fight Thread

1) Inconsistencies in their statements
2) Always moving the goalposts
3) Making demands rather than making concessions is a clear sign of not wanting the fight.

1. Such as Wilder saying he had 50 million but then he didn't and then he did again, saying he'd fight in the UK but then it had to be in the USA and yes they'd had a contract, no they hadn't, but they had and they were just waiting to sign it.

2. See Wilder talking again about wanting 50 million, being offered it then saying he wanted it in the US etc etc

3. Hmmmm who demanded the 50 million, who demanded (at first) to choose the venue/date etc Wilder again.

Oh and as for number 3. It's always the A side that makes the demand, as much as we'd like to think it isn't boxing is a business and the man with the most money generally gets the pick, in this case it's AJ by a country mile (as you can see from the articles i posted on earnings by both (Wilders top payday is around 2.5mil, AJ's is around 17mil, although i'd love to see what the promoters/managers got from them shows).

If I was AJ i'd just get the fans to compare records and see who has the history of facing the better fighters and who doesn't.

AJ AJ he's our man, Wilders a step above a tomato can

If both fighters want it it should be 50/50 down the middle.

Both don't cover themselves in glory with all of the excuses the promoters keep coming out with.

Personally I think AJ/Hearn is ducking Wilder big time.

Not that I think Wilder is a better boxer or anything like that but he is extremely fast and has explosive knockout power.

Evidence was clear at the Povetkin fight, AJ is slow and predictable although still has the knockout power too but I don't think he could catch Wilder before Wilder tagged him.

Hearn is absolutely terrified of losing his cash cow and will not allow the fight to happen.

Why should it be?

One man earns more than 8 times what the other does, he's going to bring the fans and the tv money so from a purely business stand point AJ should get 8 times more than Wilder.

From a sports standpoint, every fight should be 35/35 with the remaining 30 going to the winner.

I think Wilder is terrified of losing as he won't get back up the rankings now and will have to face better fighters than he has done. He might have made a massive mistake taking on Fury as although his last 2 fights have been dung of the worst order he does have a tendency to raise it to the level of his opposition (so won't need to raise it much Could be an interesting fight if it goes ahead

Winner to face Joshua
Loser to face winner of the above fight
a little round robin with the belts to keep us punters happy

Yeah, Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson all went 50/50 and split hundreds of millions.

But Hearn and Joshua think they can just offer Wilder 5 million and he should take it.

It's a clear duck, as proved by Wilder offering Joshua 50 million and Joshua turning it down asking to see the money

Then demanding the fight be in the UK and when Wilder agrees they pull out again.

What’s wrong with them asking if the moneys real or not?

posted on 27/9/18

They were asking to see the money.

Show me the $50 million? WTF. Who else has asked for that?

If that is what is in the contract, that is what they have to give up, it is legally binding. If they don't, they get sued, and the promoter loses his license and could even face jail time for fraud, and he will never work in boxing again.

Clearly they called their bluff.

Calling the bluff, would be signing the contract.

Pity Wilder didn't call the bluff and sign the contract he was given, then.

Why didn't Joshua want the rematch clause in America?

Would he miss Eddie's Home cooking too much

"It was simple, the two things were simple. How can you send a contract to anybody when you don’t have no date on there? - Nor do you have a venue up in there. He’s sending the contract saying ‘Just sign it’," Wilder told Tha Boxing Voice Podcast.

"Another thing that was up in there was talking about if I beat Joshua he gets a rematch, but if he beats me then it’s up to him to decide if there was a rematch.

That contract alone tells you Joshua was ducking

His hate for AJ is quite embarrassing, he only
believes what suits his own agenda and doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.

Indeed Benny..

So you are denying the facts?

Why wouldn't Joshua sign up for the rematch?

posted on 28/9/18

What makes you think they are facts? Because they suit your agenda against AJ and Hearn?

The offer that Wilder's team proposed left it up to his side to choose the date and venue as well.

I'd hazard a guess that it's typical tactics to build as much hype and speculation as possible

Joshua's statements back it up.

But Joshua claims shows he is the one full of BS.

He claims that Wilder tried to sneak a rematch clause in

You don't sneak something in a contract, that is in black and white and can't be ambiguous.
