Didn't watch the fight but I did see the highlights and all I can say is good for Askren He got the biggest payday of his career and can now stay retired with a nice nest egg.

Oh true, but pretty sad for such a hyped fighter who never performed on the big stage, and then to top it all off loses to a fecking YouTuber - nest egg or no, that is humiliation. Oh and the highlights is about 80% of the fight, so if you have seen the KO that's the fight.

I don't really think it's humiliation for Askren. Most people knew his striking was atrocious and you can't really get more humiliating than being flat lined with a flying knee in less than 10 seconds. As I said, it's the biggest payday of his career and probably the easiest. I doubt he even trained for this fight to be honest.

Yeah, I think askren just wanted the payday, Roach said he wasn’t in his camp, he trained for 2 days with him.

Having said that. Askren does have a chin, Jake Paul has knockout power to make up for his lack of skill.

As far as celeb match ups go, he could make a lot of money.

I know some people have an issue with these youtube celebrity fights but I think they bring viewers to the sport and if at least 20% of them stick around and become fans, that's better than nothing. I won't watch these fights of course but as long as they don't start putting legitimate fighters on these celebrities undercards, I'm all good.

Also I would implore any mma fighter that gets the opportunity to fight a boxing fight, to do so.

Apparently Askren earned $500k at a minimum, which is more than he earned in his 2 UFC fights against Masvidal and Maia combined

Oh yeh it makes the money and it might bring a few more people to watch the sport. And yeh as long as there is no real danger than why don't......however sitting thru 20 mins of beiber was horrendous

Jon Jones at heavyweight doesn't sound like a wise decision to me. I think he will suffer a KO at some point.

Whittaker again showing why he is one of the best UFC middleweights of all time. Continues to beat the toughest guys and even after losing, he comes back stronger. Easily one of my favourite fighters in recent years and certainly one that I respect significantly.

Adesanya vs Whittaker 2 next.

Jones better practice those take downs.

He's much better than Stipe at it, and IMO that would be his only chance to pick up a win. The Reyes fight should have been a draw at worst IMO, but Jones was champ so they gave it to him.

Usman via UD
Zhang by Split decision
Schevchenko via TKO
Weidman via UD

Its the best shape masivdal has looked far better than the first fight so therefor 50 - 45 usman

Agreed. Masvidal looks to be in phenomenal shape and hopefully this makes it a more competitive fight. Unfortunately, I see Usman being very cautious here and not striking at all. He will grapple and take him down as much as possible, even if it means laying on him and being somewhat active.

I think Rose vs Zhang is my fight of the night pick. It's going to be a 5 round war. I expect Rose to get the better of the early rounds with her speed and reach but once she tires, Zhang will be all over her in the last few rounds.

My predictions:

Usman via split, the beef will continue as a result.
Zhang by Stoppage, I like Zhang, she's a warrior.
Schevchenko via UD
Weidman via UD
Smith via submission

Zhang is too hard for Thug Rose IMO. She will be able to take Rose's assaults but Rose cannot take Zhang's assault. Joanna did well not to lose by KO in Zhang's last fight but her head looked like Frankenstein's monster at the end. Perhaps Rose can test Zhang's grappling in this fight.

I rarely get any UFC predictions right though, so this means the above probably won't happen.
