Yeah over the years Volk beat him, Max was declining, or was made to look like that.

Covington seems to be getting better

Can’t see past Lemos in this.

Seems to have man-strength

UFC London has been and gone!

Gutted for the main event... was looking forward to that one!

Usman or Volk…. This won’t even be a discussion when Edwards point scores his way to the title.

Gutted for Aspinall. Even though there were only a few exchanges, Blades looked to be getting the better of them.

Also, I know it’s becoming cool to dislike Paddy, but he goes out to put on a show. Can’t knock anybody who goes into the octagon with his attitude.

I thought it was a lacklustre card.

Paul Craig was disappointing. He spent most of the fight on his back trying to get Volkan into his guard and at this level, you can't expect to have long term success that way. He needs to round out his overall game if he actually wants to make a title run.

Molly Mcann put in a decent performance. The finish was nice and she seems to enjoy these home crowds. I don't think she will beat the top women but the UFC have been feeding her women that she can beat, which has done wonders for her stock.

Paddy had a tougher time than perhaps he predicted but in the end, the finish was expertly done and like Molly, his stock continues to rise. I've said it before but Paddy won't win a title in this division but I think his journey will be fun for as long as it lasts.

Aspinall vs Blaydes was the big fight and unfortunately it ended within 15 seconds. Blaydes landed some good shots before Toms knee went and I think it would have been a very interesting fight. I hope Tom can recover fairly quickly and they rebook the rematch for the end of the year.

I hope Leon does it but I don't think he has the ability to execute the gameplan required to beat Usman.

Volk is P4P number 1, for me.

Some huges fights have recently been announced:
Nate vs Chimaev
Omalley vs Yan
Sterling vs TJ
Islam vs Oliviera-My favourite

Thoughts on these?

posted on 25/7/22

Only one I don't really like is Nate Vs Chimaev, looks like a stylist mismatch for a tired old Nate and think it's going to be other quickly.

O'Malley Vs Yan should be interesting, potential to be a great fight. Don't think O'Malley cant bang with Yan, but is very capable of hitting him. Looks like a good fight.

Very interested to see where TJ is these days - followed him since his UF days, the ban hurt him and lost a lot of momentum - in paper a banger

And yeh Islam Vs Oliveira promises to be a very intriguing fight - still have an edge for Oliveira, just thinks he does everything a little bit better

The Nate vs Chimaev fight is certainly the UFC penalising Nate for not playing by their rules. I expect it to be a one sided contest and it's sad to see Nate treated like that. However, this is a Diaz brother and nobody ever gave Nate a chance to beat Conor either and we know how that ended. If Nate can somehow beat Chimaev, it would be iconic.

posted on 25/7/22

Oh agreed Guv, but it was a boxers chance Vs a striker a few years ago. I give Diaz 0 chance this time, the only thing that's gonna happen is his face will be a bloody mess come the end of round one

posted on 25/7/22

I think Nate has a better chance than most think. We saw Khamzat go to war with Burns and he almost lost. Of he does that against Nate, it's a 50/50 fight.

Outside of a win, best case for Nate is to have the fight stopped in the 1st due to a bad cut.

Volk is an absolute beast. Such a well rounded fighter. Everything about his game is a level above anyone else in his division.

But for me pound for pound no. 1 would be Kamaru Usman.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very hard to argue.

I’d say him beating Covington twice is on par with beating Holloway thrice.

Closer matches between Usman and Covington, I thought, however.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say Covington himself is at Volks level tbh. That's why his fight with Usman was so close and also because Covington is a fecking killer and his fights are great to watch too. I think Usman has had the tougher fights but not by much.

It's a hard call to make but overall Usman just edges it for me and I think his grappling is also superior to Volks by a nose.

If Nate takes the fight seriously and stops partying and does a proper camp and pushes himself to his limit then he can summon the spirit of the Conor fight. Depends on how he feels about the fight, that's Nate.

Nate can take the fight as seriously as he wants, if Khamzat decides to fight smart, Nate has close to no chance.

Colby is at Volks level?!!! Please explain how.

posted on 26/7/22

How can I explain that? It's my opinion having seen all their fights. I'd love to see a Colby vs Volk fight. Would be crazy.

posted on 26/7/22

What have you seen that points to Colby being a better fighter than Volk?

If we look at the resume, it's clear Volk is the better fighter. If you look at them in terms of fighting ability, Volk again is the more complete fighter.

As for them fighting, it's unrealistic to ever expect them to fight. Colby is a solid 170lb fighter whilst Volk makes the 145lb limit easily. I actually think Volk would be undersized at 155lbs, let alone going up to 170.

posted on 26/7/22

Of course they can never fight. Just saying it would be awesome if they could.

I think it's a matter of opinion who is better between Colby and Volks. I feel they are about the same level as if Usman wasn't around Colby would be undisputed champion in his division.

Leon just ended Usman with a beauty of a head kick

Wow, cleanest shot you’ll ever see.

Glad for Leon, usman was trying to bully him, cheating throughout.

I really didn’t think Usman would be beaten.

Fantastic head kick by Edwards and I’m delighted for him.

Wow just caught up with the card.

What a win by Leon and it came from no where. A true Rocky moment. He looked visibly fatigued and it seemed like Usman was coasting to a decision but might like Bisping did, Leon caught the champion and the rest is history.

The Luke vs Costa fight was crazy too.

Disappointed by Aldo's performance.
