We haven't played brilliantly, 2nd half vs Utd undoubtedly our best shift. But we've won 4/6 which isn't bad - 2 points per game which is usually top 4 form. Doubt any of us, Sandy excepted, had title winning expectations. We usually get into our best form under Poch from early Dec through to March. Not sure why but that just seems to be a pattern. I'm not concerned as such - only real worry is Chelsea and Arsenal look more of a threat this year so six into four will be a tougher battle.
Things I'd like to see:
1. Levy/Spurs communicate to the fans more realistic timescales on the stadium. All sorts of rumours flying around. If it's gonna be next season then just come out and say it - it's the poor comms that generates a lot of the grumbling rather than the actual hold ups.
2. Tobys situation sorted. I have a feeling we're gonna be reliant on the Toby/Jan partnership, only for Toby to be shipped out in Jan to avoid the £25m buyout clause kicking in, leaving us down a key player halfway through the season.
3. Eriksen, Jan, Dele contracts dealt with.
4. Some sort of meaningful foray into the market in January; what are our scouts doing? A young player like Maddison would've been perfect for us, why weren't we in for him instead of Grealish? We need new blood - the fans are paying enough in ticket prices and TV fees to subsidise the club.
5. Poch to take the domestic cups as seriously as possible. We aren't winning the league or CL, so let's have a go at something we actually can win for facks sake.

Well said.

We wont sell Toby in Jan. Even if the £25m release clause next summer is true, do you think Utd or whoever will offer much more than that or wait until summer to spend £25m.
Personally dont believe the £25m release. Levy doesnt do release clauses. Like Vertonghan, it will probably just be an option to extend.
Just know when Toby signed for us it was a 5 year contract but since he's been linked with a move it's come out he has this 25mill clause. Criminal Verts didn't extend after his season last season.
Need to keep these guys as we can't afford to go in the .market for CBs seeing the other areas we need strengthening.
Reckon Dembele will be off to China in jan
Then we are fairly facked if we don't sign anyone imo

Would have no problem with that ordinarily, but then again in most ordinary cases, the club would have planned ahead for his imminent departure and signed someone.

He's our best central midfielder Sandy. If you don't think that you need to get a grip.
He may be one of our better players, but Spurs will carry on whatever. I don't get this overdramatic line that because Spurs have signed no players, then the whole club will collapse. It won't.
There has been a massive overreaction recently.
Our poor form has mainly been down to playing the uninspiring diamond formation - a plodding midfield, and a real lack of width.
I thought we played OK v Inter, but confidence had obviously been knocked a bit as we missed several chances. We then reverted to the sheit diamond formation when Winks came on for Lamela and lost the game.

there will always be an overreaction due to the fear of the above not being sorted.
I don`t even mind a bit of overraction, but it should come in May at the end of the season. Not six prem games in, and still in September, with the club still in every competition, and sitting just outside the top four as it stands.
Can we have this conversation in April/ May, not after 6 games. The Last 2 seasons we have put together long unbeaten streaks combined with some blow ups of our major rivals. The WC,Lack of pre season, lack of signings, uncertainty re Toby, Rose & Dembele and lack of new contracts for Dele, Eriksen & Jan are all gonna be factors as we move through the season. This is a big transitional year for Spurs which we have so far made a total clusterf@ck off. So Pointing out comparisons of now Vs any other point in the last 2 or 3 years is pointless. Lets just win tomorrow & beat Huddersfield and try not do/say anything stupid in the next 7 days

With respect Sandy, at various times last season you were calling for Poch's head and saying this group of players will never win a trophy. Then, despite us adding no new players, you were telling all and sundry that Surs were nailed on PL and CL champions this season. Your reactions and opinions veer to the extremes more than any other Spurs fan on this forum.

The reality is we are still a decent side... Nothing has changed there..... But to not expect some complacency to have crept in is totally unrealistic, especially when there are too many players getting credit for winning nothing and having little fear for their place in the side because there's no squad recycling. We are a total reflection of the club in the summer ..... "as you were"... No real threat to win anything, will win 65-70% of our games and will hopefully make the CL for the new stadium next year. All the change, fears & uncertainty have come from board level and the big picture approach from the club and the financing behind it..... It has b@gger all to do with formation, rotation or some bl00dy substitution of Winks for Lamela

With respect Ace that was last season. New season, new broom. Every fan in the world changes their opinions, so not sure why you think I am unique. It is the way of the game. I did not actually call for Poch`s head, I merely said he had to up his game. Nothing wrong with criticising the manager when results take a dip. Football is not all about praise. I am not sure if I actually said this group of players would not win a trophy. If I did, I have since changed my mind. Opinions are not set in stone are they?

To be fair, the comparison was made by the BBC, I merely shared it with my fellow Spurs fans.
However, I don't think it's pointless to have the debate now. particularly as so many of our fans are on a downer.
I keep hearing how great teams learn how to win when not playing well. We have won 4 out of 6 so far in the PL and we haven't even got into our stride. I think some positives should be taken from that.
