I'll say it again
This is facking obscene indeed. He earned 2.5 mil a year, he can fack off. I would feel facking embarrassed if this was done for me, in the same position, and never accept the money.
I already feel embarrassed now if someone wants to hand me a tenner. If I'd be making over 2 mil a year for 19 years, I wouldnt need and wouldnbt want a 5 million handout collected by asking clubs to contribute. its embarrassing

happens in all businesses. didnt google give the guy that created android a $70m payoff after he stepped down after a sexual assault charge?
disgusting

its one thing if the business decides to give a handout, it entirely different if the business would ask other members to pay for it.
Double your yearly salary for leaving the company, think I got a £50 voucher when I left my last place.

I wish it was that high
This is so wrong, on so many levels.
For just one years employment at 2.5 million a year you are set up for life and should be able to live comfortably, at that.

It sounds like all 20 clubs are actually going to pay 250k too. It's crazy...
I mean, donate it to charity in his honour or something.
Absolute disgrace.
I was in a lift with a Chinese bloke earlier, it was Wong on so many levels.
It's only wrong when taken in isolation. It's actually very common practice in the business world which the PL fits into sadly.
City's owner is already thinking of ways of how he can pay it without taking it out of club funds.

No issue with his £2.5m salary, he has made the premier league loads of money. Even a £5m goodbye bonus could be justified, but asking every club in the league to contribute is a joke. I would certainly object. I can't imagine Levy is too happy about this
Don’t have a problem with this. Yes, the bloke’s been paid handsomely for his services and has presumably earned some pretty juicy bonuses too, but he’s also made billions for the club owners and has positioned the league in such a way that the fans can enjoy a large chunk of the world’s top footballing talent week in, week out. The league now wants to demonstrate its gratitude.
Fine by me. More so when you look at things through the prism of top level footy. Someone like Mourinho could get a payout to the tune of 30M or so for making a pig’s dinner of it. Griot probably gets 5M a year just for impersonating a footballer. Looked at from that angle, 5M for someone who’s done his job to a level that s massively exceeded expectations isn’t all that much.
Levy will have a heart attack, that is Poch's transfer budget for 2 years gone.

It's funny because it's true
It's a disgusting amount of money but like IOAG says, he's made the PL billions and done his job well (while fans may disagree with how they have been treated) and I'm sure in return the clubs have no issue with paying him this in return.
The fees managers get for being sacked for failing is more ridiculous.

No issue with it. Also don't see what homeless soldiers have to do with premier league football clubs.
