Outside view:

Goalkeeper: Liverpool.

Fullbacks: best Liverpool (Robertson), but spurs have better strength in depth.

Centre backs: best Liverpool (vvd) again spurs have better strength in depth.

Midfield: spurs

Attack: tie between salah/Kane for best. Overall Liverpool edge attack due to better supporting cast.

It’s pretty close. Each is better than the other at certain things.

Good assessment.

Liverpool are streets ahead of this Spurs side. Sadly I think this is really there year unless Man City go on another amazing run like last season.

I've always said Hafi knows exactly what he's talking about.

Liverpool are flat out, Spurs have even more to come with our horrendous injury list. Spurs also are competing for four competitions, Liverpool only three, and have been awful away from home in the CL. Other than the Prem, their form in the other competitions has been pretty poor. Spurs have progressed to a Semi-final, and come though a tough CL group in the end, still losing less games than Liverpool in the CL.

Spurs better than Liverpool for me.

Clyne is better than Davies and Trippier IMO or at least equal. Gomez can also play full back on both sides.

TAA and Robertson can only be matched by Rose, who is a sick note.

I think Liverpool edge this.

There's more to come from Liverpool. The Prem is the main competition we're going for so that's ok. We won more games in the CL and had more points, and conceded less goals. As well as being more than one win clear at the top of the league. Liverpool currently the better team.

Liverpool seem better to me, ar least more capable of reaching the very very top.

Spurs are excellent though, just think they're closer to their ceiling and not quite good enough to win the league or CL where as Liverpool genuinely could.

I do understand the case for both though, in terms of consistency Spurs have been incredible over the last few years espeicially considering their resources

Well Roberson is comfortably the best. Taa and rose pretty equal, but I think spurs subs are better than yours..

Both keepers are over-rated.

Undoubtedly Alisson has improved Liverpool in goal but they could have done that for under 1m and he's looked miles from a 70m keeper. Lloris is another one that's much more dodgy than he gets credit for.

Combined team

GK Alisson
LB Robertson
CB Van Dijk
CB Vertonghen
RB Alexander-Arnold
CM Milner
CM Eriksen
CM Fabinho
LW Mane
RW Salah
FW Kane

Son or Mane was the toughest call.

Alisson has been great, definitely worth the money. He has saved us numerous points already. A couple of errors but mostly solid, and fantastic distribution.

Above them in the league comfortably, beat them in the league comfortably on their own patch, not even a debate, let’s be honest.

a current form combined XI?

Alisson
Gomez VVD Toby Robertson
Sissoko Milner
Alli
Salah Kane Son

Mane, Firmino, Wijnaldum and Eriksen could also be in there
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Milner over Eriksen.

Sissoko

Seems like someone has started drinking early.

Remember when Arro argued for 4 days straight that Albrighton was better than Eriksen and that he’d rather have Vardy up front than Ronaldo?

I would argue that Alli and Son are a better supporting cast than Firmino and Mane.

Both teams can tear sides apart when in the mood. Personally I'd say Liverpool are defensively stronger but I've been impressed with the Spurs mentality recently. For all the plaudits they'll get for the 2-6 win, the 1-0 against Burnley and Inter and 2-1 against PSV are almost more impressive for me because of the desire and tenacity it shows. Things weren't necessarily going their way but they stuck to the task and got the wins in the end. They'll always pull a side apart from time to time, it's the hard wins that make the difference.

This Liverpool team is as solid as we've had for a long, long time. It does slightly concern me that we have some key players where the reserves are a significant drop in quality - i.e Alisson (Mig), Robertson (Moreno) and VVD (any of the other CBs). That said, right now we're playing very well indeed.

In terms of squad, I still rate City's as the best though and I suspect that'll show over the course of the season. Nice to be genuine title contenders though.
