Toby Alderweireld

You are deluded if you think there is even a 1% chance of this happening. Alderweireld would laugh you out of the door. Arsenal are no longer regarded as a ‘big club’ like they were when Sol Campbell flipped. You are now a Europa League club with an inferior manager, stadium & training resources to Tottenham. He wouldn’t join you in a million years.

When you consider the other clubs who will be interested I don't see why he'd pick arsenal

Of course a Tottenham fan is going to jump on this and say it won't happen.

"He wouldn’t join you in a million years."

You said the same about Sol too, and look how that worked out.

In all fairness, you ended up getting Gallas and Adebayor (via Man City) from us, so we've given you 2 players and you've given us 1. I think it's only fair if you give us one of your players now

Just stating the obvious. It won’t happen, Arsenal aren’t in a good enough position as a club. The landscape of football even in London alone was very different when Sol flipped. It was pre Abramovic, and Spurs were very much in the doldrums. Since then Chelsea, and more recently Tottenham, have overhauled you. You do not have the clout to acquire a top player from a rival anymore. This is fantasy, delusion, nonsense.

All about money. There wont be more than just the PL clubs who will be interested at this fee. He will move to the club who will pay the most which is his last big contract considering his age. Simple.

He will have a number of suitors, several of which will be higher up the football food chain than the current incarnation of Arsenal FC. He wouldn’t leave a Champions League level club for a Europa League level club purely for money when he could get the same money at another Champions League level club.

If Arsenal has had the foresight to sign him when he was available for £11m in 2015 instead of paying threee times that figure for a wasteman like Mustafi, then perhaps their defence wouldn’t have been so shambolic over the last few years and they’d be in a better position as a club.

Where exactly have I said that Arsenal would be the club who will get him?

Arsenal are the bigger club, but Tottenham are the better team right now. I don’t see why he would join us right now, to be honest. We are no longer in a position to take a player of a certain quality away from a club like Tottenham.

I know Spurs are better than us.

It’s a dump, already looks and feels like a relic. So many advances in smart tech since they put it up.

Good luck getting rid of Ozil on those wages.

Last contract means he will go where the money is. Even if that means China. The size and prospects of the club is irrelevant.

No one chooses CL over dosh anymore.

Arsenal would have no chance IMO

Surprised Sven, Unai and Raul don’t seem interested in Alderweireld. I mean, if they were he’d have been signed last summer.

Maybe it’s just a money thing and the plan was always to sign him next summer instead?

Seems the most logical reason, now I think of it.

If there wasn’t a precedent for this, I’d probably think that too.

Alderweireld will go to a big club, and one that’s in the Champions League. Those two factors rule out the modern Arsenal I’m afraid.

If there are lots of other top clubs interested then fair enough but to me it seems like he just wants money and apart from United or a Chinese club I’m not sure who would offer him more money than Arsenal

Spurs fans are so funny.

Kane, Vertonghen, Rose, Alli and Eriksen will be thrilled I’m sure when they retire and are able to tell their kids/grandkids about the time they finished 2nd/3rd/4th in the Premier League.

What an outstanding legacy to boast about.

We can qualify for the CL this season. It’s a toss up between us or chelsea for 4th and you could almost argue that for the Europa, although they will be favorites for both ahead of us it can definitely happen

You can’t blame them. I remember how we never thought the likes of Cesc, RVP, Nasir etc would leave Arsenal for rival clubs. We thought playing nice football and qualifying for the CL every season was something to be proud of. Why in God’s name would trophies and big money lure players like that away from Arsenal
