As an example we've rested hazard on two occasions this season for Europa games we've completely left him out the squad so he's had the week off, then it comes to the weekend he's nice and fresh etc and he's been absolute $hit in both the games he's played after a rest

20-30 mins just keeps players sharp gives them a run out, i think it's just as hard really to play 90 mins then have a while off then go right back into playing 90 mins again and have no real build up to it for yourself
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly, a lot of our supporters think that by giving players time off, they will come back all guns blazing, very rarely works like that. Remember when I used to work, I came back from a two week holiday, supposedly all fresh and raring to go, and I was like dog shiiiite for the first few days back. Footballers are no different.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its not about the rest, its about avoiding the unnecessary risk of injury. sandy I cannot understand how you cannot be in agreement with me.

how on earth any spurs fan can think bringing on Kane at 6-0 up in a cup game is a good idea ahead of the week we have I have no idea. if it was a league game and we were chading GD then MAYBE I could agree... but it was a cup game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I heard Harry stepped on a bar of soap in the shower this morning, and is not out for the season.

Kane could fall down the stairs today and break his leg... yes... however at least poch wouldn't have been able to control that.

I like you sandy but you have lost the plot with this one. your defence being that its nice for the Tranmere fans to see him ffs. Charity Hotspur at it again.

Reminds me of when Cañizares was in Spain's pre-World Cup camp and severed a tendon in his foot when he accidentally dropped a bottle of aftershave on it.

He is very, very lucky that Kane didn't pick up any kind of knock or muscle twinge yesterday.
------

Why 'very, very lucky'?

I do get the gist of the article, but it's a bit of an overreaction.

Considering he was only on for 15 minutes (and that footballers don't normally sustain even minor injuries every quarter of an hour), then surely you'd have to say Poch would've been very, very UNlucky if Kane had picked up some kind of minor injury ... even if you think such a remote risk was not worth taking.

I didn't watch the match so cannot say what was going on in the game at that point, but I'd imagine that unless there was some Tranmere nutjob looking tremendously frustrated and going in late and high on opponents, then most would've been taking it a bit easy by then. There are probably fiercer-fought training games where squad players wishing to impress the manager will go in stronger than necessary. A lot of injuries happen that way too. I'm sure no-one expects Poch to make all his starting XI sit out of them because there are tough fixtures ahead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tranmere hardly put in a bad tackle, they were like Gentlemen. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Erm you forgetting that nasty tackle on Skipp?

Jesus Christ, get over it.

He came on, he scored, no harm done.

We go again.

Poch should be absolutely applauded for bringing on Kane, and letting the Tranmere supporters have a taste of what we see every match. That is what supporters pay good money for to see the best players.

Poch is a credit to our club, always seeing the bigger picture.

Most of Spurs injuries do not happen during matches, they happen on the training field, or away from actual match days. Far, far too much bollox about wrapping players in cotton wool. Give them rest yes, but please, please do not act like they are some fine china that may get broken into pieces every time they step onto the pitch.

Obviously not as we was 6-0 up without him ( and Eriksen, Toby, Winks, Sisokko, Rose etc etc ) so maybe just maybe we are more than just a Harry Kane team

I expect us to beat Tranmere.. my point is a wider one about the use of Kane, and the issue of "respect" in football

either you can address the questions raised in the article or you can go down the sandy route of thinking that this club is some kind of Charity setup, existing to make other fans happy

You specifically said your best players win you games and well we didn’t play our best players and was 6-0 up so the comment Is wrong.

Now Kane coming on was unnecessary but it did no harm so it is what it is.

I just wish some posters on here would respect all our players and trust them like they do with Kane

there is no GD in cup football..... winning 7-0 or 6-0 or 3-0 makes no difference.

I agree with chronic. By all means bring him on if the manager reckons he needs minutes etc. But to bring him on for respect purposes? Silly it’s a ruthless cutthroat business. Had he got injured Pochettino would be getting pelters today
