Funny Chronic as soon as Kane came on my brother text me seriously berating the decision - as he to holds a similar view to you.
However that being said, I think the point is being missed here. We all know Kane literally worships goals as he does his statistics. One only has to look at the eriksen debacle last season.
Watching on from the sidelines last night it would’ve been obvious to Kane he could grab a goal easily enough last night with the little time remaining. I am confident that Kane would’ve been in Pochs ear on the sideline.
Now it would be easy to say, it should be a simple, ‘no sit down Harry, it is not going to happen!’ However the only way we as a club can keep Kane long term is to continue to play him as and when he wants - because he has signed his contract.
Records books Harry values over everything else. So if the boy wants to play for his beloved Tottenham every time we take the field, I say let him. It’s refreshing in the modern era of players at times being happy to pick up their pay packet for simply sitting on the sidelines for these lower fixtures - as to view the opposition as below them.
The respect comments from Poch whilst no doubt have some element of truth or simply to mask the real reason Kane took the field. And that’s imo is because he asked. What’s more, all those development players will have felt more confident on the pitch with Kane spear heading our attack. The real Tottenham academy role model.

Maybe he brought on Kane to get the 7th in order to get the all time spurs record away win
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well he didn’t as he had no clue about that until the bt presenter told him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think any of us knew. I know our record home win is 13-4 v Everton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yea I no clue tbh

We are also on course to break our record number of away wins in a season. Currently we have 13 all comps and it’s only January

He is very, very lucky that Kane didn't pick up any kind of knock or muscle twinge yesterday.
------
Why 'very, very lucky'?
I do get the gist of the article, but it's a bit of an overreaction.
Considering he was only on for 15 minutes (and that footballers don't normally sustain even minor injuries every quarter of an hour), then surely you'd have to say Poch would've been very, very UNlucky if Kane had picked up some kind of minor injury ... even if you think such a remote risk was not worth taking.
I didn't watch the match so cannot say what was going on in the game at that point, but I'd imagine that unless there was some Tranmere nutjob looking tremendously frustrated and going in late and high on opponents, then most would've been taking it a bit easy by then. There are probably fiercer-fought training games where squad players wishing to impress the manager will go in stronger than necessary. A lot of injuries happen that way too. I'm sure no-one expects Poch to make all his starting XI sit out of them because there are tough fixtures ahead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tranmere hardly put in a bad tackle, they were like Gentlemen. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Erm you forgetting that nasty tackle on Skipp?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One tackle over 90 minutes, didn`t Aurier put in one bad one as well. But that was about it, Tranmere were anything but physical. I was very surprised how they just stood off for practically the whole game.

Nah 13-2 vs Crewe I thought
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely correct mate, February 1960, 13-2 over Crewe, 10-1 at Half time. the 10-4 was against Everton in 1958 in Billy Nicholson`s first match in charge. Both games at WHL. Remember them well.
It was an unnecessary risk but it doesn't matter now. I don't think you can relate it to other Poch subs in the past, as those weren't about respecting the opposition. In fact that was the problem when we played Arsenal...he didn't respect the opposition enough by playing Foyth when he should have played Toby.

My first reaction was surprise. My second reaction was Kane's £200k a week is heavily incentivised (appearances and goals in all comps) and he 'demanded' to go on. Either way, when I saw the studs up challenge on Skipp at 80 minutes I did wonder if it was perhaps not the right decision. Still it worked out so little harm done.
