As i said before, Spurs main 11 and maybe 2-3 more players are 3rd best in the league on paper for me but can also beat anyone on any given day.
But the depth is just so lacking and poor, you just need to get that 16-17 man top class squad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Depth of the squad is fine, but no team is going to be winning every game with their best three attacking players out. Say Spurs had Kane, Dele and Son all starting, and Chelsea had Kante, Hazard and Pedro all missing. You wouldn`t fancy Chelsea I would think.

True, but we've still done it numerous times
we had no JT + Hazard for the europa final, we still won it
No JT + Ivanovic + Ramires for the cl final we still won it
JT got sent off vs bayern, cahill went off injured, we had bosingwa at CB away in the nou camp
Plenty more too, it's all about adapting. Son wasn't even in the team for the first part of the season when he had the military games, and Alli has been slagged off for most of the season by Spurs fans for underperforming. Obviously Kane is the best in the world but that's why you buy a good quality back-up striker, and llorente is probably still better than giroud at scoring
Yeh Chelsea are the ultimate big game team. No matter how s*** or how poor they are playing, you can always count on Chelsea to win a trophy or win in an important cup semi etc, to make the final.

I thought we would lose, Spurs are like an open book, if it`s not failing to turn up in big games, it`s downright rotten luck or being facked over by referees. One way or another, we always find a way to fail in these vital games.
I think Joe Cole is right in what he says, we don`t have enough proven winners with experience of getting the job done. It`s all well and good having Enic`s philosophy of buying young players with potential to develop into top players and bringing through youth, but that only gets us so far as has been proven time and time again.
And the vicious circle we are in will probably only continue this summer as we replace the experience of Dembele, Toby, Llorente and Eriksen with yet more young players.

Fair point re Son, Kane and Dele but way too many players in our squad who are not good enough to win a league title or any silverware in the current environment with the squad size and spending power of City, united, liverpool and Chelsea.... The likes of sissoko, lorente, Davies, Trips, Dier, Moura and Lamela will all need to be upgraded over time while Eriksen and Toby are likely gone in the summer. We are not a bad side but nowhere good enough to get to the next level. Personally i think Poch has reached his ceiling at Spurs... He won't be given the resources to build, match his ambitions and win something and subsequently will be at United this Summer.
Not angry or upset about things like tonight anymore.... it's to be expected as is Levy putting the stadium first.... it all has consequences. we might beat Palace in the Cup but won't win it, don't think we have a chance vs Dortmund over 2 legs and Top 4 is 50/50....There will be no new signings and when good players leave, fans will complain and Levy will simply point to the stadium to defuse criticism.
Sorry to sound like a broken record but right now Spurs are exactly that... same old, same old.
Credit the players for a decent second half tonight but we were lucky to get the PKs... We were outplayed in both legs and Poch facked up by not starting3 at the back tonight...... Chelsea's weakness are their FBs esp as their wide players don't track back to help..... Top teams don't make such basic errors.... Sadly we are not one

Penalties aren't a facking lottery
England didn't lose every shootout for years because they were unlucky, they lost them because they were sheit at pens
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are a lottery 100 per cent. It is just a 50/50 shootout, every player in world football can score penalties, every player can also miss them. It is just on the night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it's not a lottery, players and keepers study their opponents patterns of penalty's/dives religiously before a knockout tie in preparation.
Any club who shrug their shoulders and say penalty's are a lottery and don't bother studying will lose them all unless they come up against another club equally as stupid.
How can you compare Chelsea who can literally buy any player in the world and pay crazy wages to us.I mean they even tried getting their 300k a week man ready for tonight.
Chelsea are in Man Citys spending power and we loosing several of our key players will affect us much more than these teams. Believe only 4 players today started the 1st leg tie so almost a completely different team.
The bottom line is we are punching above our weight and until Levy loosens the purse strings this team is likely to win nowt!!

Yet you’ve been able to beat the very same teams that dump you out of the cups in the league. It’s a bit of a cop out.
Today, granted, you’ve had your key players kissing so it’s a fair argument about resources - though that also stems from bad planning from Levy and Pochettino - but previous seasons it’s not a great excuse.
We did better tonight than I thought we would.
Thank God Danny Rose came on for Davies!
one thing I do not understand was Pochettino subbing Llorente off in the 66th minute - why?
Fernando was our best chance of getting another goal - Did Lucas or Lamela get a shot on target?
Think Llorente would not have missed a PK either - he's finding his form of olden times.

Look at the teams that have won cups in recent years. Spurs have either been a better team than them or able to compete with them. So yes it is a cop out.

I agree we have had our failing in recent years and failed to take some of our opportunities when they presented themselves.
My argument really was to several on here comparing our squad to Chelsea's when they have had players missing and not affected them.
