Can't believe they are doing it after the dressing room issues he had last time
Granted casillas, pepe and Ronaldo have left... But Ramos will hardly be chuffed
He wasn't right for us... Maybe he could have success again elsewhere... Don't see it at Madrid tho

That would take some doing considering they got dumped out 2 days ago
This miserable coach has stagnated over the years, can no longer motivate players, and carries a huge bag of chip on his shoulder - he need to learn humility as a starter.
Ironically Real fans chanted for Mourinho after the Ajax humiliating home defeat

Silly to say he’s finished. Players and managers aren’t the same thing. He’ll be given money to spend and will inherit some very good players. He’ll be in a league which doesn’t have the pressure of 6 good sides fighting for 4 places.

“Alright, Dave?”
He might be being brought in to do a clear out of the old guard rather than galvanize the players. That's the only logical explanation I can think of.

Really? Pretty much every top manager not named Fergie lost their edge come the end.
Dalglish, Wenger, Cappello, Clough, Robson amoungst many more ended their careers looking a pale shadow of their prime selves.

Both of you are right and your points doesn't negate the other.
Players decline due to age as they are no longer physically able to compete at their best level.
Managers are different as they have to adapt their ways to what era they are in as well as taking on new ideas (amongst other things). SAF did that while the others listed failed to do so. Jose looks like he will be joining that list.
I don't think it's as easy as just adapting, I'm sure most if not all those managers tried.
Eventually managers find ways to combat other managers methods and to stay at the top the manager in question has to make massive changes to his managerial style which isn't easy.
That was what set Fergie away from the rest, because on a tactical level there's always in my opinion been a couple better than him at any given time especially in the CL but his ability to adapt with the times was ridiculous, he was a completely different manager in the late 00s to 10 years prior or even 5 and I have no doubt he would have further adapted to the high pressing possession based trend most successful teams are playing now as well as adapting to the social media culture and adapting his man management accordingly.
If he didn't retire meant to say.
The administrators need to give us an edit option.
Fergie could have adapted if he was still manager.
He did play a pressing game in his early years but with times he has gone to a possession based one.
Adapting refers to players of now and as well as to other teams and managers.
SAF did those. He also changes assistants and got in coaches that covered areas he wasn't good at, such as tactics.
Jose has failed that but still has time to change. Do I think he can change? No.
Without his trusted assistant, Rui Faria. Jose is fonished at the top level

Mourinho seems exhausted. It'd be better for him to take a break from the game, but I'd imagine he's someone who wouldn't want his reputation diminished and would want to get back in the game to prove people wrong. Ironically, this would contribute to his exhaustion more and would make him a worse manager...
He needs to look at himself and, as Ole did with United, watch Real games this season to see what he would do differently.
