He is the exact opposite of the spurs players. An absolute winner who also shows up in the big occasions. Whereas out lot fold like a piece of paper at crunch time
Chronic, kind of my point mate about Spurs in a way yeh. A complete winner mate in every sense, nothing like Spurs mate.
I remember while still at Real Madrid when he used to be called out for not turning up in the bigger games. How much things have turned around since.
Spurtle, see what I mean by big game signings mate? I know Ronaldo is on a different level to anyone, but even someone like a Bale etc would make a difference. Difference between winning mentality and not.
Don, I'd be happy with just any signing never mind big ones. There are good players out there who could have improved us this season for less than £30m.
I do think it wouldn't hurt if we had someone with a bit more of a winning background though to add to the team.

Scary to think he will be talked about a 100yrs from now. If not the greatest then definitely one of the greatest of all time
No doubt about it ..... Ronaldo had a triffic game today for Juve. Obviously Allegri knew better when judging to pay the price for a 30 year old.
Ronaldo is, and will be, a legend.
However he did not "do it singlehandedly". Juve are a better team today than last time we met them!!
And we may just draw them again in the next round ......and doubtless if we do, Trippier will play RB again!
Has there ever been such an ultimate big game player as Ronaldo ?
Yes, Messi is another of the same ilk

Vardy too
Gonna be a massive void when he and Messi hang up their boots that is for sure, we won't see anything like it again i doubt.

People always say this, but top players emerge with every new generation, often better than the ones before or as good as.

I don't think we have had anyone like these two in my lifetime scoring wise.
Talent wise then you can put Maradona in there, Ronaldinho and the less arrogant Ronaldo and Zidane perhaps.

But it’s rare to get one player in a generation at this level, let alone two at the same time.
Ronaldo 799 games 597 goals......154 games and 85 goals for Portugal
Messi 672 games 572 goals......128 games and 65 goals for Argentina.
It blows the mind the consistency these two have had and miraculous the lack of injuries as well, nobody comes close goalscoring wise in my lifetime.

Ooops amended, Messi had scored a few more
Comparing great players is always very difficult, especially if they were before your time.
Having seen Di Stefano,Pele, Maradona, Carlos Alberto, Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Messi, C Ronaldo, Garrincha, Cruyff plus a host of other great players in my life time, I think it is almost impossible to say who was the greatest.
However I do agree with Spurtle that every generation seems to produce one or two players who perform consistently at a level above all others.

I agree Genius, very difficult to compare eras, but I think the modern supporter dismiss some of the old greats far too easy, mostly because they never saw them perform. Pele for me is still the greatest player ever I saw, followed by Puskas and Di Stefano. Messi and Ronaldo of the modern era are In my top 10, but they fall short of being absolutely at the tops for me, because they are playing in an era when financially doped clubs rule. Back in the day, teams from so many more countries across Europe had a say, eg the Dutch, the Hungarians, Polish, etc. very much more competitive, although having said that Real Madrid won the first five European Cups, but that was then followed by teams from Portugal, Italy, Scotland, Germany, Holland etc. Now it just seems mainly the Spanish win the CL.
He was amazing last night , and is easily the best there ever was.
His off the ball work is amazing dummy rums pointing to players were to go at 34 he still looks like he has another 10 years in him.
Ronaldo is GOAT for me... its actually not even close.
Messi is an absolutely ridiculous footballer, but Ronaldo literally has everything
