Basically, are Chelsea going to go the way of Leeds and Forest because of a two window transfer ban?
No, they’ll be fine.
Strong squad, good young players currently at the club, some more good young players out on loan. They might have a dip next season (5th-6th) but I’d be amazed if it affected them in the medium-to-long term.

It doesn’t need serious work. We need four/five new signing max
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just the £200m region then.
The ban will only come into place this summer if Chelsea want it to, same as Barca/ Madrid who delayed theirs with a loophole.

I think FIFA will cave in and give Chelsea the summer window to buy who they want before enforcing the ban anyway.

Not true. A lot of our strikers down the years have had the excuse of not getting the service (in some cases it was true) but that's 100% the case with Higuain.
He doesn't contribute much to the build up but that's not who he is, we knew that going in, but there's nothing wrong with his movement. I love that quick turn he does on the last defender, he reads the line/pass so well. Very elegant player.
They will still remain part of the mini league from 3rd to 6th that will go one for next few seasons. Wolves and Everton could become involved in that too if they make some shrewd signings.

I thought the appeal was still ongoing, and the appeal that was rejected was for them to have the ban suspended until the appeal against it was completed.
Chelsea can still appeal to the CAS, and it will get delayed while that appeal is heard.
I guess a bigger issue is what is happening with Roman at the club? Since his visa was denied I don't think he's been seen at any Chelsea games. Maybe best for him and the club if he does sell, I'm sure there will be plenty of people interested, just hope the sell to someone who f-cks them over.

He’s living in Israel at the moment.
Higuain doesn’t look any better than Morata either.
only if you look at just the stats. morata was a bust, higuain just needs some service. good player.
I know he is, what's that got to do with him not going to any Chelsea games this season and supposedly not being as interested in the club as he once was? He is still allowed to visit London or any other city Chelsea are playing.

Its getting there.
They have massive problems with their HG quota and transfer ban. Can see Wolves overtaking them soon enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you at all concerned about your HG numbers, Robbing?
I've just got back from a break with an old mate and Liverpool fan and we had a big debate about it.
He was saying he wants to see the club move on and upgrade on Henderson, Lallana, Milner and Sturridge. I told him that'd be tricky unless you a) also shifted some non-HG squad players and relied on filling out the squad with youngsters, or b) were happy to be rinsed for top HG talent by selling clubs knowing that you were short of HG players.
What are your thoughts?
For me, I'd be keeping the majority of the HG squad players you have - including Henderson and Milner - for experience (provided, of course, that they are happy to sit on the bench) and looking to upgrade on your non-HG squad players.
I think he’s banned from entering the country after what happened at Wiltshire. Lots of Russian diplomats were told to leave.

Once the paperwork on that appeal has dried Chelsea can then appeal to CAS
Pretty sure he's just not being given a visa to live in the UK, he's still entitled to visit.
They'll fire Sarri, hire a defensive type manager like Simeone and win the league even without signing anyone. For some reason Chelsea and defensive pragmatic managers just seem to fit like a glove. These pretty type football managers don't seem to succeed there. Plus their location will always attract good players and managers.

Really DDA? So why do they have similar records with us? And why was Higuain’s scoring so average at Milan while Piatek is now banging them in? Higgy has had a few chances in good positions that he has missed, the same as Morata. I agree we are not a team built for strikers but why doesn’t/didn’t that count for Morata and Giroud and not for Higuain

I think it’ll be a good few years before they are a realistic challenger for the title. City have raised the bar and Chelsea are miles off that level.
