ny racial abuse nowadays in this country is dealt with swiftly and the idiots “a very small minority” are punished severely.
.................................................................................
The sort of thinking that is very scary to me. If you genuinely think it is a small minority, then you need to go out there. This country hides racism better than any other country I know- it is done very covertly to make idiots like you think it is only a " small minority" right now, it is factual evidence black children are 168x's more likely to be permanently excluded from school than a white British girl. Wake up and smell the coffee
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the old you cant see it but its there argument
thats just silly
The thing that is sickening, is that the media, particuallry sky and talk sport do not give a rats arris about this subject, its just click bait
the only person you need to speak to about it is john Barnes who is actually sensible, football on the whole brings on people together, and fans en mass simply cannot have a civil discussion about it because of the tribal nature.
Rose is a moron
My view is that there does exist in this country a small portion of Racist, i am also a massive advocate of removing unconcious bias from society, this goes for anything including racism
the whole point is to realise that for whatever reason, be it society or upbringing that you may have a bias against a particular group of people or race or anything. once people realise that and deal with it that goes away.
what i don't believe will help matters is this virtue signalling by commentators and this constant talk of racism which more often than not is used to sell a story.
If anything this will inflame racial divides rather than placate them.
Adrian Durham knows very well that calling WBA racist for sacking Moore will get him a tonne of RT's and people talking about him and listening to talk sport.
Sky know that sensationalising comments made by rose will get clicks and likes.
the same people in the media that talk about raheem sterling and the racial abusehe suffered by a moron at my clubs stadium are the same ones that hounded him week in week out about his private life. they are hypocrites of the highest order and the media are one of the biggest evils in this world today.
the media is fuelling the fire and people aren't smart enough to realise this, because it then becomes tribal.especially in football.
We also cannot do anything about Italy or Montenegro, completely different society's and cultures, yes in an ideal world it wouldn't happen
Bans and fines and the most ridiculous one of all, a points deduction, does nothing.
We need to educate from an early age, start giving underprivileged black youths in London some facking privilege so they pick up a book instead of a knife.
start with that, because in those areas the kids don't stand much of chance and that is a result of historical racism / bias
We have youth workers out in communities telling young kids not to stab each other... we're not talking about decent people here.
---------------------
violence and racism are not always linked though, these young people who are stabbing each other as a whole are doing it for a number of issues, racism being pretty low on the list, weather it be for status, money, respect, the majority of the killings are by people within their own race, the fans abusing black players are doing it purely because of their skin colour, you don't hear monkey chants directed towards white players
"When countries get fined what I probably spend on a night out in London what do you expect?"
"How I programme myself is that I think I've got five or six more years left in football, and I just can't wait to see the back of it,"
"Seeing how things are done in the game at the minute, you just have to get on with it.
"There is so much politics in football. I can't wait to see the back of it."
For me, it's a poorly constructed statement which doesn't really get to the important points.
There’s been lots of talk about tackling racism, eradicating it and what have you but as long as you hve fear and ignorance you will have racism IMO, and that’s just overt racism.
What the likes of John Barnes has been talking about is subconscious, deep rooted racism, the type that people might not even be aware of, education helps but people need to want to be educated and what do you do with those who don’t care?
I think football in the UK has done a good job, take the incidents with Sterling at Chelsea and Salah at WHU. There were combined, 4-5 idiots in a crowd of around 100,000 (40k at Chelsea + 60k at WH), you’re not going to eradicate it but of course, trying to reach as many people as possible is better than doing nowt

Thing is though, he's not a public speaker or a politician.
I think Southgate has encouraged England players to just be honest and say how they feel.
Sometimes that will mean poorly worded statements and odd comments, but if beneath it all are the best of intentions then personally I'm okay with that.
John Barnes does not speak for Black people. He may have some good points, but his take on the Liam Neeson case I found ridiculous. Funnily enough, most white folks were in support of what he was saying- I wonder why??

It isn't something you can switch on or off though.
You do have to consider the fact a lot of people in their 30's and 40's would probably say they heard their grandparents make racist remarks.
In turn, I'd say a majority of those don't feel they have racist parents.
And if they do, the majority of those probably don't see themselves as racist.
And certainly wouldn't bring up their kids to be racist.
In 30 years, the kids who are born today, will likely be educated and not be brought in to a world full of racism, imo.
A lot of countries are a much further behind. We benefit from a rich history of immigration.

Based on what?
I think Danny Rose could have said a number of things that people would have agreed with and got behind, but unfortunately because he lives in the wealthy 'football bubble' he opens himself up to ridicule with statements like:
"I can't wait to see the back of football"
- to which the inevitable answer is that as a football player who has so many millions already if it is affecting you that badly and you hate it so much why don't you just retire NOW.
His problem is that there are only 2 realistic reasons that he does not do so:-
(1) He is just a bit of a narcissist who wants as much attention as he can get.
(2) The upset he feels is not as bad as he suggests and so he chooses to go for the millions for as long as it lasts.
Neither reason is likely to invoke much sympathy amongst the general public.

I find it very difficult to say what Rose should or shouldn’t have said, given I’ve no experience at all of what he’s been through. Personally, I admire his honesty and I’m glad he’s talking about it in the first place regardless of what people perceive of the delivery, not only with this but his experiences with mental health too.
