Oh I might add, battery prices are falling all the time, it is reckoned by 2025, an ev will be no more expensive than current petrol cars.

People our age won’t be interested in it BK. We love the car revs and speeding on motorways. I’ll probably invest in one when they become more common which I said will take another 10 years.
——————-
Tbf that’s last thing on my mind, electric cars accelerate crazy good I’d love it vs my Aygo 20 second 0-60.
True.
Thing is that even with the price of petrol it's still so much cheaper to get yourself a city car.
Cars like the up and the citigo (which are the same car with a different badge on the front), the 108, c1 and other city cars cost practically nothing to run and with finance you can pick them up so cheap nowadays its unreal what you can actually get for so little.
Add to that globally we are now an urban society, it's over 50% of people who now live in cities and will be about 80% in the developed world by 2050 (and let's be honest those are the areas buying and using cars)
The future is in the city car more than any other type of car.
As soon as the government gives Grant's to businesses to have charging stations in their car parks and there are electric cars cheaper to run and buy then petrol city cars there will be a mass switch over
you’ve got an aygo? That was my first car too.
Kante that is another thing I haven't mentioned, Electric motors are incredibly efficient, and deliver instant torque, acceleration is brilliant.
Yep I’ve noticed even lower range electric cars have 0-60 of traditional sport cars

Of course, better last me to end of uni
My sister got herself a Fiat 500 yesterday for only £100 a month PCP. They’re horrible cars though and look like bugs.
300 miles on a charge is good, you’d need a break after that anyway so hopefully charging time comes down even further in the future.
The Gov want to ban new Petrols and diesels by 2040 which seems achievable.

They should be bringing it down to between 2025-30, I think another 25 years of toxic exhaust emissions is a very bad idea. Especially with climate change accelerating more quickly than usual.

Also another point worth making is the manfucaturing of electric cars causes much more harm to the environment than your regular petrol/diesel motor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's been debunked countless times and is a Clarksonesque throwback to the mid-2000s.
(Sorry for using the C-word there, maybe I overstepped).
Whilst they are more damaging at the moment to manufacture, over their lifetime they're still significantly better.
The biggest issue with the manufacturing is the use of cobalt in the batteries, which is often sourced from the DRC and their horrendous human rights records.
But our oil isn't exactly clean on that front either.
Ruiney the EV will have taken over our roads long before 2040. there is so much money now being poured into battery development, cost, range and charging times are all set to improve.
massive Battery factories are being built all over the world to keep up with demand, I think there are nine being built in Europe alone.

Good informed comment Hobo, Cobalt is indeed one of the issue in todays batteries, and is one that is actively being reduced.
Tesla have already done this, and are looking to eliminate it's use in the next few years, there are some exciting new battery techs coming.

Again mainly based on me and other people’s brief convos but while yes it is finite, we’ve barely tapped into worldwide lithium resources. Also read that while market is dominated by USA a lot of countries have stores that they’ll probs tap in to as market expands
