I’d add that Dermot seems also to be influenced by Salah going down.
TOOR thinks he dived, I do too. Dermot seems not so sure.

“He may not have given the pen had Salah not dived.”
He didn’t dive. It really is that simple.
https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/12/former-top-referee-rules-on-liverpool-v-newcastle-controversial-incident-dermot-gallagher-newcastle-united/
Former refs eh, what would they know about the rules and stuff?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s his opinion.
Doesn’t change my point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s his opinion based on a far better understanding of the rules than you.
You keep saying TOOR doesn’t know the rules etc, and alluding to you having a superior knowledge. Well I’ll bet that Dermot Gallagher has a far better understanding what woth him being a professional ref for years.
The FA also thought it wasn’t a dive;
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11669/11592475/mohamed-salah-escapes-fa-action-over-liverpool-penalty-incident-vs-newcastle
“Liverpool were awarded the penalty two minutes into the second half after referee Graham Scott judged Salah had been pulled back by Paul Dummett.
Sky Sports News understands Salah's reaction to being pulled back did not reach the required threshold for "attempting to deceive the referee" and so the Egyptian will not face retrospective action.”
Who to believe, an ex ref and The FA, or Winston?
I’m entitled to my opinion and can back it up based on the law.
TOOR can’t.

Unless you think you know better than both?

And later clarified what I meant by that.
Your lying won’t help you here, TOOR, and you won’t change the debate as you are desperate to do.
Your comments about the Salah incident are wrong.
Where did I mention FIFA or the referees, TOOR?
You are trying to make things up to win a debate. It’s all you have left.
"The World Cup has shown that VAR officials have used the system incorrectly, against guidelines. It has also shown that some referees don't understand the handball law."
Here are indisputable facts:
- We do not know if the referee would have given a penalty had Salah not have dived.
- That said, it’s a matter of opinion whether he dived. I think he did. TOOR thinks he did. Gallagher seems not so sure.
- Whether it was a foul is a matter of opinion. I base my opinion on the actual law.
- Anyone who says it was 100% a foul is wrong.

Ah, you’re being cute with it now TOOR.
I believed you were referring to the debate last week. I already acknowledged my error with that, and it happened because we weren’t privvy to the handball guidance that has been issued.
I can actually admit when I make a mistake. You can’t.
Thanks for highlighting that.
"It has indeed aligned with what you said - I'll give you that.
The difference is though, I think that is because the VAR officials have made a mistake. I'm convinced by that.
I think you'll find that is the case and that as VAR takes hold, I'll be proven right. These are just teething errors."

Yep, still do.
I don’t think their guidance conforms to a clear and obvious error. I’m not the only one - lots of high profile criticism on that point.
So there we have it. Winston claimed, FIFA UEFA and referees didn't understand the law but he understood it and eventually they would come round to his thinking. They haven't, obviously. He then tried to lie that he had said it but I posted his quotes. Oh dear. Unlucky Winston. One day you'll understand this law and how it is applied. Have a nice day.
